Summary: The autonomic nervous system is involved in the regulation of sleep and wake processes, and there is a bidirectional relationship between impaired autonomic function and sleep disorders. Understanding the neural mechanisms underlying this relationship could provide insights into diseases involving autonomic dysfunction.

Summary: The clinical value of ECG repolarization parameters associated with ventricular arrhythmias in tako-tsubo syndrome is still uncertain. This study found that the corrected global Tpeak-Tend interval at 48 hours from admission is an independent predictor of subacute ventricular arrhythmias and is superior to the standard corrected QT interval.

Summary: The first study on the relationship between ADHD symptom severity and functional impairment found a gradual linear increase in impairment with higher symptom severity, with no apparent step increase or changing rate of increase at a certain high ADHD-RS-IV total score level. Controlling for socioeconomic status, sex, and co-occurring conduct and emotional symptoms did not alter the results, although comorbid symptoms had a significant effect on impairment.

Summary: Dust aerosols are produced by wind erosion, and the production is influenced by the wind speed and soil moisture content. The relative humidity (RH) indirectly affects dust production by influencing soil moisture content. This study shows that RH has a direct and complicated impact on dust aerosol production, mainly due to its effects on electrostatic and wet-bonding forces between soil particles. The current formula for estimating dust production does not consider the direct effect of RH, which can lead to significant errors.

Summary: Chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH) is associated with cognitive impairment, and mitochondrial dysfunction plays a crucial role in CCH-induced neurovascular pathology. Chinese herbal medicine has been proven effective in improving mitochondrial dysfunction and neurovascular pathology after CCH, and it also shows potential therapeutic value in combating neurodegenerative diseases by targeting mitochondrial dysfunction.

Summary: LiFSI is a promising lithium salt for electrolytes in Li-ion batteries. However, its hydrolysis process could lead to safety accidents due to the accumulation of harmful gases and heat. This study investigates the hydrolysis processes of LiFSI under different conditions, proposes the hydrolysis routes, and provides strategies for inhibiting LiFSI hydrolysis, which is significant for the high-efficiency production and safe storage/transportation of LiFSI.

Summary: PERM is an immune-mediated disorder, but dexmedetomidine, a highly selective alpha 2-adrenergic agonist, may alleviate paroxysmal symptoms by decreasing noradrenergic neuronal activity, resulting in attenuation of antibody-mediated disinhibited increased motor and sympathetic activity. Dexmedetomidine may be useful as an adjunctive symptomatic therapy in PERM and related disorders.

Summary: This study compared clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes between Japanese and European takotsubo syndrome (TTS) patients, revealing differences in triggers and outcomes between the two ethnic groups. Despite worse in-hospital outcomes for Japanese patients, ethnicity itself does not appear to impact TTS patient outcomes. Machine learning analysis identified physical stressors as the most important prognostic factor for both Japanese and European TTS patients.

Summary: Published data on cardiogenic shock is limited and mainly focused on specific populations. This study found that non-ischaemic CS accounted for over 60% of cases, with a 30-day mortality rate of 26.0% in the overall population, varying based on the cause and first place of admission. Factors associated with higher 30-day mortality included age, diuretics, circulatory support, left ventricular ejection fraction <30%, norepinephrine, and renal replacement therapy.

Summary: This study compared the safety and effectiveness of different non-vitamin K antagonists (NOACs) in newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. The results showed that dabigatran had a lower risk of major bleeding compared to rivaroxaban, but similar risks of stroke, myocardial infarction (MI), and death. Patients treated with dabigatran had similar risks of stroke, major bleeding, MI, and death compared to apixaban. Rivaroxaban had an increased risk of major bleeding compared to apixaban, but similar risks of stroke, MI, and death.

Summary: With advances in robotics and telecommunications, robot-assisted teleoperated ultrasound examination can help with medical diagnosis in remote areas, reducing health inequalities. Studies have shown that robots can safely perform ultrasound examinations by following the hand movements of sonographers and researchers. However, real-time transmission of video and ultrasound images requires high bandwidth, and improvements are needed in robot control and interface design.

Summary: We found a relationship between beta-blocker use and anthracycline chemotherapy in protecting against TNBC progression, disease recurrence, and mortality. Beta-blockade improved the efficacy of anthracycline chemotherapy in TNBC mouse models by reducing metastatic development. Anthracycline chemotherapy increased sympathetic nerve fiber activity and norepinephrine concentration in mammary tumors, but this effect can be overcome by inhibiting beta 2-adrenergic signaling in the tumor microenvironment.

Summary: The burden of hypertension has been increasing, and besides the risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease, it also affects the quality of life (QoL) of individuals. This study aimed to assess the QoL of hypertensive men undergoing treatment in India. The results showed that patients with uncontrolled hypertension had significantly poorer QoL compared to those with controlled blood pressure.
