Summary: In this study, we investigated cerebral malaria inflammation using a perfusable 3D human brain microvessel model. We found that parasites induced unique stress response pathways, leading to focal endothelial disruptions and apoptosis. The parasites also modified the temporal kinetics of the TNF transcriptional response, suggesting enhanced inflammatory damage.

Summary: Most solid tumors become stiff with progression of cancer, which is mediated by Cancer Associated Fibroblasts (CAFs). However, how CAFs in stiffer tumor microenvironment (TME) promote metastatic progression is not clear. In this study, we controlled the mechanical stiffness of substrates and collected gene expression data with human colorectal CAFs to understand the role of TME stiffness in CAF-cancer cell crosstalk.

Summary: This study describes the equilibrium between monomers, homo- and heterodimers of 14-3-3ζ isoform in the unmodified and phosphorylated form. The researchers found that phosphorylation of 14-3-3ζ at Ser58 significantly increases its homodimeric K-d value. Various experimental methods were used to efficiently monitor the dimerization of 14-3-3ζ protein and observe the effects of external factors and client protein binding.

Summary: A sensitive and reliable LC-MS/MS method was developed for the determination of befotertinib and its metabolite D-0865 in human plasma. The method was validated according to the Chinese Pharmacopeia Commission and ICH Harmonised Guideline for Bioanalytical Method Validation. It was successfully applied for the quantitation of befotertinib and D-0865 during the pharmacokinetics study of befotertinib in NSCLC patients.

Summary: In this study, advanced absorption cycles, such as the generator-absorber heat exchange (GAX) absorption refrigeration cycle and Honigmann power cycle, were graphically analyzed using 3D methods. The implicit parameters, such as intermediate concentration and deflation ratio, were intuitively exhibited. By extracting implicit parameters, the new method helps to understand complex thermodynamic cycles and propose advanced high-performance cycles.

Summary: A novel transparent airway model is presented for the development of new aerosol-based therapeutic techniques, allowing for analysis of aerosol propagation and deposition. The model enables adjustment of flow conditions for each bifurcation unit of the lung and offers the possibility to simulate specific human breathing characteristics. Experimental results show that the model can simulate human respiratory features and quantitatively analyze aerosol deposition.

Summary: This robotic system autonomously draws on 3-D surfaces with flexibility and robustness. The system does not fix drawing tools to the end of the robot arm, but instead recognizes and picks up pens online for drawing. Various techniques are employed to ensure drawing quality, with error detection and recovery implemented to handle anomalies.

Summary: This article proposes a novel deep correlated joint network (DCJN) approach for 2-D image-based 3-D model retrieval. The proposed method jointly learns two distinct deep neural networks, extracts visual features using deep nonlinear transformations, and utilizes a global loss function for cross-modality feature extraction. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the superiority of this method over state-of-the-art methods.
