Summary: This study successfully reconstructed the extrahepatic bile duct with a scaffold-free tubular construct created from pig fibroblasts, treating complications such as biliary strictures in pigs with stable results. The novel construct could potentially offer an innovative regenerative treatment for patients with hepatobiliary diseases.

Summary: The study demonstrated the efficiency of generating integrated tubular bile duct-like structures using chemical conversion technology and direct co-culturing hepatocytes, which facilitated bile transportation and upregulated hepatic marker genes in the integrated tissue.

Summary: The cell sheet technology is a successful method in regenerative medicine and has been applied in first-in-human studies across various clinical fields. A laparoscopic delivery procedure was developed for safe and easy transplantation of cell sheets in a porcine model. The procedure involves the use of a carrier made of medically fit silicon, commercially available fibrin glue, and conventional laparoscopic forceps, demonstrating successful transplantation and prevention of delayed perforation.

Summary: The study demonstrates that hepatocytes can be isolated from damaged livers, and human chemically induced liver progenitors (hCLiP) can be obtained through culture and induction. These hCLiPs can differentiate into mature hepatocytes in vitro and have the potential to remodel damaged livers.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and risk factors for lymphedema after axillary lymph node dissection in breast cancer patients. The results showed that smoking, radiotherapy, and dissection of more than 18 axillary lymph nodes were significant risk factors for lymphedema.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the differences in clinicopathological features, prognosis, and treatment between asymptomatic and symptomatic metastatic breast cancer (MBC). The results showed that symptomatic MBC patients had a higher frequency of multiple metastatic sites and triple negative (TN) subtype. Patients in the asymptomatic group had longer post-recurrence survival (PRS), and for overall survival (OS), only TN patients in the asymptomatic group had a significant difference. The luminal subtype patients in the asymptomatic group had longer chemotherapy duration compared to the symptomatic group, but there was no significant difference in OS.

Summary: We evaluated the association between inflammatory and nutritional factors and their outcomes in patients with metastatic breast cancer. Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) was found to be an independent predictor of overall survival in these patients.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of compression therapy using sleeves and stockings in preventing peripheral neuropathy induced by docetaxel. The results showed that this compression therapy did not demonstrate efficacy in preventing peripheral neuropathy caused by docetaxel.

Summary: Researchers have developed a technique to rapidly form kidney-like tissues (cysts) in vitro by combining an organ-derived extracellular matrix gel culture system and a renal stem cell line. The cysts formed from the renal stem cells fused together and expanded while maintaining three-dimensional structures. The expression of genes related to kidney development and maturation increased compared to traditional monolayer cultures.

Summary: This study evaluated the use of preoperative MRCP in predicting technical difficulties during laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis. The non-visualized group showed longer operation time, more intraoperative blood loss, and a higher rate of conversion to open cholecystectomy, indicating higher difficulty in performing LC compared to the visualized group. The MRCP-based classification proved to be a simple and effective means of predicting difficulties in performing LC for acute cholecystitis.
