Summary: This study aimed to assess adherence to antihypertensive medications among adult hypertensive patients in Dessie Referral Hospital. The study revealed that almost half of the hypertensive patients had good adherence to medication, and factors associated with good adherence included sex, occupational status, knowledge, and self-efficacy. Health education on medication compliance importance and monitoring by health extension workers are recommended.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to synthesize the prevalence and determinants of hypertension medication adherence. Ten studies were identified and evaluated using the PRISMA criteria and the Mixed Method Appraisal Tool. The overall prevalence of medication adherence was found to be 34.1%, and determinants included the ability to attain hypertension control, hypertension knowledge, and treatment-related factors. It is crucial to develop and utilize a culturally congruent hypertension medication adherence tool for Africa.

Summary: Lack of adherence is an important factor contributing to the poor control of blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The study found that patients who were younger, educated, had higher socioeconomic status, and had no comorbidities were more likely to adhere to medication regimens. Therefore, healthcare providers should pay attention to the impact of factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and low educational attainment on medication adherence, and public awareness campaigns should be conducted to raise awareness about the importance of hypertension control.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the association between adherence to antihypertensive medication and clinical outcomes in adult patients with cancer. Nonadherence to antihypertensive medication was found to be common in cancer patients and was associated with higher overall mortality and cardiovascular mortality, as well as an increased risk of cardiovascular events. Thus, improving adherence to antihypertensive medication is crucial in cancer patients.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the relationship between cognitive function and self-reported antihypertensive medication adherence in middle-aged and older hypertensive women. Reduced memory function was found to be associated with poorer medication adherence, highlighting the importance of memory assessment in clinical practice. Future prospective studies are needed to further explore the causal relationship between cognitive function and medication adherence.

Summary: This study examined the joint association of antihypertensive medication use and healthy lifestyle with mortality among individuals with hypertension. The results showed that individuals with hypertension who used antihypertensive medication and had a healthy lifestyle had the lowest risk of all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality. Improvements in lifestyle score after hypertension diagnosis were also associated with lower risk of mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the global incidence, mortality, associated risk factors, and temporal trends of central nervous system (CNS) cancer. The results showed that the overall incidence and mortality rates of CNS cancer were relatively stable globally, but there was an increasing trend in younger male population. Some higher Human Development Index (HDI) countries also showed an increasing mortality rate, indicating a need for further research and exploration of the reasons behind these trends.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and risk factors of long COVID symptoms among patients with COVID-19 in 4 major Chinese cities. The most common severe long COVID symptoms were fatigue, cough, sore throat, difficulty in concentrating, feeling of anxiety, myalgia, and arthralgia. Female gender, living with domestic workers, smoking, poor self-perceived health status, having >= 3 chronic diseases, chronic medication use, and critical severity of COVID-19 were associated with severe long COVID. Prior vaccination with >= 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccines was a protective factor.

Summary: By analyzing a large database of people with diabetes who received cystoscopy in China, a clinical scoring system was developed and validated to predict the risk of bladder cancer and guide urgent cystoscopy evaluation. The scoring system, based on independent risk factors, classified individuals into average risk and high risk groups. This scoring system can effectively stratify high-risk individuals who should consider earlier cystoscopy.

Summary: This study explored the association between negative mental health conditions and demographic characteristics, socioeconomic background and health-related parameters in primary and secondary school students in Hong Kong. The results indicated that both very high and low parent expectations were risk factors for suicidality and psychological distress in primary school students, as well as psychological distress in secondary school students. Being bullied was a significant risk factor for all conditions in primary school students. Having one's own bedroom was associated with suicidality in primary school students, while having three or more close friends and higher life satisfaction were significantly linked to a lower risk of negative mental health conditions in secondary school students.

Summary: Analytical placement has shown effectiveness in global placement. The differentiability of wirelength models is crucial for gradient-based numerical optimization. This paper introduces a new differentiable wirelength model using the Moreau envelope to approximate HPWL, showing significant improvements in HPWL compared to the widely-used nonlinear wirelength model when combined with the electrostatic-based placement algorithm.
