Summary: The study found that MSC has antidepressant effects and can significantly improve depression induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress. Nine potential biomarkers for depression were identified through urine metabolomics, and the metabolic pathways associated with the efficacy of MSC were explored. Through the integration of metabolomics with pharmacodynamics, L-isoleucine, sebacic acid, and allantoin were identified as potential pharmacodynamic biomarkers associated with the efficacy of MSC.

Summary: This study used a metabolomics approach to investigate the toxicity of SCCPs in rats, finding that high-dose SCCP exposure resulted in liver and kidney injury, affecting pathways related to energy metabolism, amino acid metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, nucleotide metabolism, and vitamin B metabolism. Fluctuating levels of phospholipids and nucleotides may contribute to the neurotoxicity of SCCPs, while down regulation of folic acid induced by SCCPs may lead to malformations during early development in laboratory animals.

Summary: Although the secondary packing materials may not come into direct contact with the finished drug products, compound migration between them is still possible. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the extractables and leachables of the packing materials to ensure drug quality and safety. In this study, the identification of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol (BHT) was performed using a combination strategy of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-offlight mass (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Subsequently, an effective and sensitive HPLC method for quantifying BHT was developed and validated. Finally, a toxicological risk assessment of BHT was conducted to ensure the safety of drugs.

Summary: Comprehensive metabolic profiling of Mangifera indica leaf extracts revealed their potential therapeutic application in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In vitro studies demonstrated that the extracts promote myoblast cell proliferation and induce myotube formation through oxidative stress. Western blot analysis confirmed the upregulation of myogenic marker proteins, indicating myogenic differentiation. In vivo studies showed that the extracts expedite acute wound repair and improve blood perfusion. The leaves of M. indica can be considered as an excellent therapeutic agent for tissue repair and wound healing applications.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of action of Osthole (OST) in breast cancer 4T1 cells. The results showed that OST inhibited cell proliferation, blocked cells from remaining in S-phase, and induced apoptosis. OST mainly affected phospholipid biosynthesis, methyl histidine metabolism, pyrimidine metabolism, and beta-oxidation of very long-chain fatty acid pathways in 4T1 cells, possibly via inhibition of mTOR/SREBP1/FASN signaling.

Summary: The study demonstrated that MS could alleviate behavioral characteristics and disordered biochemical parameters of depression in mice. Metabonomics and network pharmacology analysis showed that MS might improve depression through synergistically regulating five targets and three metabolic pathways. This study preliminarily clarified the potential antidepressive mechanism of MS and provided a theoretical basis for developing MS into a novel effective antidepressant.

Summary: Metabolic profiling was used to investigate changes in plasma and urine metabolites following Aβ injection and donepezil treatment in rats. Donepezil improved cognitive impairment induced by Aβ through restoring metabolic disorders. This study provides basic data for understanding the effects of Aβ and donepezil on plasma and urine metabolites in rat models of AD.
