Summary: This study found that 3.4% of lung adenocarcinoma patients have the EGFR L861Q mutation, with 23.4% also having concurrent exon 18 mutations. Experimental results show that the oncogenic activity of L861Q depends on asymmetric dimerization and affects the expression of ERBB2. Pan-ERBB inhibitors may be more effective than selective EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors in this context.

Summary: This study evaluated the usefulness of immunohistochemistry (IHC) using the BRAF VE1 mutant-specific antibody as a diagnostic adjunct in mandibular ameloblastoma. The study found that the BRAF(V600E) mutation is more frequent in mandibular ameloblastoma and less frequent in maxillary ameloblastoma. BRAF VE1 IHC is a highly accurate tool for the diagnosis of mandibular ameloblastoma.

Summary: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly aggressive and deadly cancer, and there is an urgent need for an efficient and reliable early-stage diagnosis approach. Precancerous lesions of PDAC, such as PanIN and IPMN, result from driver gene alterations and their detection in bodily fluids is crucial for diagnosis. Liquid biopsy has gained attention as a complement to pathological diagnosis, and molecular markers in cell-free DNA, RNA, and extracellular vesicles have been investigated for potential diagnostic and prognostic purposes. This review discusses current diagnostic approaches, genetic analysis, and liquid biopsy attempts for diagnosing pancreatic cancer.

Summary: In this study, a deep learning-based method was proposed to predict the mutation state of the EGFR gene in lung adenocarcinoma. The results showed that the tumor pathology is associated with EGFR mutation-positivity, which is predictive of genetic alterations in oncogenic drivers. This information is crucial for targeted therapies in precision medicine for lung cancer patients.

Summary: The paper presents an FFT-based method to efficiently detect specific frequencies in a monitored signal, showing significant improvements in computational reduction and accuracy in fixed-point implementation compared to the Goertzel algorithm. Gains of 15 dB and 19 dB in signal to quantization noise ratio (SQNR) were observed for the proposed first and second order radix-8 JM-Filter in comparison to Goertzel algorithm.

Summary: This study aimed to develop and validate multiparametric MRI-based radiomics methods for predicting EGFR mutation status in patients with spinal bone metastases from lung adenocarcinoma. The radiomics signature showed good performance in predicting EGFR mutation status, with potential clinical usefulness confirmed by decision curve analysis. Multiparametric MRI-based radiomics is considered clinically valuable for predicting EGFR mutation status in these patients.

Summary: The study investigated the aberrant promoter methylation of RASSF1A and SHOX2, and the genetic mutation of EGFR in early LUAD patients. The results showed that the degree of methylation and mutation was higher in invasive lesions compared to noninvasive lesions. The combination of these biomarkers could reliably distinguish between noninvasive and invasive lesions, and further discriminate among different invasive pathological subtypes.

Summary: Genome-based cancer medicine is becoming the standard of care by analyzing tumor DNA to identify driver mutations and select the most effective drugs. However, new mutations and adaptive processes can lead to drug resistance, highlighting the need for deeper understanding and development of next-generation drugs. The review focuses on the mechanisms of resistance and potential clinical benefits.
