Summary: A chimeric FAdV-4 was successfully generated, which could replace the role of fiber-1 of FAdV-4 and exhibited similar replication ability and pathogenicity. Vaccination with the inactivated chimeric virus induced high antibody titers and provided full protection against FAdV-4 and FAdV-8b, showing potential for prevention and control of HHS and IBH.

Summary: This study introduced a truncated form of MFG-E8 that demonstrated advanced therapeutic benefits in treating liver fibrosis. The modified MFG-E8 more efficiently suppressed TGF-beta signaling, inhibiting hepatic stellate cell proliferation in the liver disease environment, and showed safety profiles in rat models.

Summary: The study demonstrates that recombinant vaccine candidates using replication-defective adenovirus vector to deliver NiV attachment glycoprotein can effectively induce specific humoral and cellular immune responses in mice. The Ad5-NiVGe vaccine candidate elicited the strongest immune responses after a single-dose immunization. Additionally, a potent conserved T-cell epitope shared by NiV and HeV was identified, providing valuable information on HNVs-specific cellular immunity mechanism.

Summary: It has been found that carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) can overcome the limitations of adenoviral (Ad) vectors in gene therapy by improving sustained transgene expression and reducing host immune response, thus enhancing the prospect of Ad-mediated gene therapy.

Summary: In this study, the MMP-8 inhibitor was found to reduce the number of activated microglia and restore cellular atrophy in a PD model, as well as improve motor coordination abnormalities. These findings suggest that MMP-8i attenuates pathological symptoms of PD through anti-inflammatory processes.

Summary: The study demonstrated that adenovirus vectors containing miR-122a-targeted sequences showed significantly increased transgene expression levels and reduced leaky expression of adenovirus genes, leading to an improvement in adenovirus vector-induced cytotoxicity in human hepatocytes. The improved adenovirus vector was found to be a superior gene delivery vehicle with less cytotoxicity for both mouse and human hepatocytes.

Summary: Hepatitis B virus infects over 240 million people globally, leading to chronic diseases such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. The diversity of HBV genome sequences poses a challenge in developing genome editing therapies. An adenovirus vector carrying multiple gRNA expression units offers a potential solution to target diverse HBV genomes for effective editing.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI), its association with mortality, and serum biomarkers for predicting AKI in alcohol-related hepatitis. The results showed that AKI was associated with 90-day mortality independently of liver function, and prednisolone therapy reduced the incidence of AKI. IL-8 and several miRNAs were identified as potential biomarkers for predicting AKI.

Summary: This study investigates the strength and specificity of CMV, U6, and HBV core promoters in hepatic and non-hepatic cells by examining the expression of EGFP. The results show that the HBV core promoter leads to higher expression in hepatic cells and may be useful for gene therapy and siRNA-based therapeutic strategies.

Summary: Radiation therapy is effective in controlling esophageal squamous cell carcinoma locally, but it can also induce changes in the tumor microenvironment that promote metastasis. Dying tumor cells play a crucial role in promoting the survival of living tumor cells, but few studies have investigated their effects on the tumor microenvironment.

Summary: We propose a new method called three-pack frequency-selective incoherent holography, which can achieve compressed holography with lossless magnification and resolution. The frequency-selective reconstruction process removes the conjugate and DC terms along with the interception of the object wave. Experimental results demonstrate the potential of this method in compressed holography, extended field of view, and slice tomography.

Summary: By analyzing the proteomic profiles of locally advanced rectal cancer patients, we identified FOSL2 as a promising biomarker to predict the effectiveness of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. Patients who achieved pathological complete response had higher levels of tumor immune infiltration, especially CD8+ T cell infiltration, before treatment. High expression of FOSL2 predicted pathological complete response and was associated with long-term disease-free survival.

Summary: The discovery of nackednaviruses provides new insight into the evolutionary history of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Both HBV and nackednaviruses share a common ancestor, but HBV acquired an envelope during evolution while nackednaviruses remained non-enveloped. The capsid structure of African cichlid nackednavirus (ACNDV) is very similar to HBV, with only minor structural differences.

Summary: The molecular atlas of tumor microenvironments in adenocarcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma were studied, revealing different biological behaviors and clinical features. Adenocarcinoma was immune-active but exposed to a hypoxic microenvironment, while mucinous adenocarcinoma cells could protect against DNA damage but had an unfavorable microenvironment for leukocyte transendothelial migration. Potential molecular and cellular targets were identified for future research, highlighting the importance of cell interactions in distinguishing between the two types of cancer.

Summary: Interface engineering is an effective strategy to enhance the performance of functional materials, but the poor charge transfer efficiency of the heterogeneous interface limits the gas sensor's performance. This study develops Fe2O3/AFe(2)O(4) (A = Cd, Ca, Zn) array material as an integrated gas sensor to selectively identify single or mixed VOC gases. The establishment of the built-in electric field promotes electron redistribution and charge transfer at the active interface, enhancing the response to VOC gases.
