Summary: In this study, the effects of human adipose derived stem cells (hADSCs) on experimentally induced hepatic fibrosis and early cirrhosis in rats were evaluated. The results showed that treatment with hADSCs significantly improved liver functions and reduced hepatic fibrosis and early cirrhosis.

Summary: This study investigated the protective effect of resveratrol (RES) on the hepatic antioxidant status and systemic inflammation in yellow-feathered broilers challenged with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The results showed that dietary RES supplementation could improve the antioxidant capacity and attenuate LPS-induced inflammation in the liver of yellow-feathered broilers.

Summary: Diets rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish oil, can modulate inflammatory responses and cell membrane composition. This study found that the use of lipid nanoemulsion containing fish oil significantly reduced fibrotic progression and inflammation in an experimental model of pulmonary fibrosis.

Summary: Blueberry juice fermented with probiotics contains more active substances and has increased antioxidant capacity. The fermentation process increases the relative content of anthocyanins and polyphenols in the blueberry juice. Both blueberry juice and fermented blueberry juice can attenuate gastric injuries, suppress oxidative stress and inflammation through the inhibition of NF-κB pathway and induction of PGE2 level. The protective effects of fermented blueberry juice are significantly stronger than those of blueberry juice. This study demonstrates that blueberry juice can be used as a protective strategy against alcohol-induced gastric injuries, and the effects can be strengthened by fermentation with probiotics.

Summary: The study demonstrated that MSCs treatment could reduce elevated levels of uric acid and improve kidney function in hyperuricemic nephropathy rat models. In vitro experiments also showed that MSCs could protect against uric acid-induced cell injury. These findings suggest that MSCs therapy may be a potential treatment for hyperuricemia-related renal diseases.

Summary: This study found that grapefruit juice enhanced the effect of beetroot juice on lowering systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure, despite decreasing plasma nitrite levels. This suggests more complex mechanisms at play and potential for maximizing the clinical benefits of dietary nitrate in targeting isolated systolic hypertension.

Summary: Accumulating evidence suggests that cholesterol accumulation in leukocytes is causally associated with autoimmune diseases, but the mechanism by which fatty acid composition affects autoimmune responses remains unclear. Dietary supplementation of EPA has been found to ameliorate lupus manifestations by remodeling B cell membranes, preventing differentiation into autoantibody-producing plasma cells. These results highlight a potential therapeutic benefit of EPA supplementation for lupus.

Summary: Liver fibrosis is caused by excessive proliferation and collagen production by hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) due to chronic liver injury. Hydroxyurea, an anti-proliferative drug, showed inhibitory effects on HSC proliferation and fibrosis development in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. This study provides evidence for the therapeutic potential of hydroxyurea in treating liver fibrosis.
