Summary: This study explores the therapeutic potential of aloe-emodin (AE) in the treatment of CLP-induced sepsis, demonstrating its ability to mitigate systemic inflammation and regulate the gut microbiota. The study provides novel insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the anti-inflammatory effects of AE.

Summary: Activation of CB2 receptors plays a protective role in sepsis by inhibiting pyroptosis and reducing the release of inflammatory mediators. The protective effect depends on the presence of endogenous CB2 receptors.

Summary: The study found that BLT2, a receptor for leukotriene B-4 with low affinity, plays a role in sepsis, a systemic inflammatory response syndrome caused by infection. Levels of BLT2 ligands and synthesizing enzymes for LTB4 and 12(S)-HETE were significantly increased in lung and liver tissues in a septic mouse model. Blocking BLT2 suppressed the production of sepsis-associated cytokines and alleviated lung inflammation in the sepsis group, suggesting that BLT2 may be a potential therapeutic target for sepsis patients.

Summary: The study found that sepsis reduces the expression of adipogenesis-related genes in white adipose tissue while promoting inflammation in adipose tissue. In contrast, sepsis increases inflammation in brown adipose tissue without affecting the expression of thermogenic genes.

Summary: Sepsis affects drug metabolism and the expression of cytochrome P450s. The study shows that cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) induces the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and leads to decreased survival in IL-6(-/-) mice. CLP also downregulates the expression of Cyp2c and Cyp3a11 genes, but this effect is abolished by IL-6 depletion.

Summary: Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) can contribute to host inflammatory tissue damage during sepsis. This study investigated a novel therapeutic agent, neonatal NET-Inhibitory Factor (nNIF), and found that nNIF inhibited NET formation and improved survival in a mouse model of sepsis.

Summary: In the study of polymicrobial sepsis, pro-inflammatory cytokines play a vital role in regulating hepatic drug transporter expression. The research found that both CLP and LPS can reduce the expression of drug transporters, but IL-6 is the major factor in the downregulation of hepatic multidrug transporters caused by polymicrobial sepsis.

Summary: The study showed that treatment with Rhoifolin improved food intake and survival rate in septic mice induced by cecal ligation and puncture. It also reduced levels of liver function enzymes and cytokines, ameliorated oxidative stress parameters, and reversed histopathological changes. These effects may be mediated by the regulation of the TLR4/MyD88/NF-icB pathway.
