Summary: Magnetic resonance imaging-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (MRI-guided HIFU) is a non-invasive strategy for tumor diagnosis and treatment. Researchers prepared a multifunctional nanotheranostic agent (SSPN) by loading perfluorohexane (PFH) and superparamagnetic iron oxides (SPIOs) in silica lipid, aiming for MRI-guided HIFU ablation of tumors.

Summary: A versatile nanoplatform called BMP was synthesized, which can generate tumoricidal reactive oxygen species (ROS) under high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) exposure. BMP also has specific T-1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) capability and can alleviate the hypoxic environment, leading to improved glioma treatment.

Summary: Desmoid tumors are a rare form of cancer that can invade surrounding tissues and occur anywhere in the body. Treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and thermal ablation with HIFU. This report presents a case of a desmoid tumor that was surgically resected twice and then treated with HIFU, leading to complete tumor remission and pain relief.

Summary: This study introduces a novel therapeutic modality based on ultrasonic cavitation effect to facilitate hypoxia-tolerant sonodynamic therapy (SDT) for inducing hypoxic tumor death. The tLyP-1 functionalized liposomes can achieve active tumor homing and effective deep-penetrating into hypoxic tumors.

Summary: This document aims to educate readers on the rates and predictors of adverse events in adult patients who undergo endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). It provides accurate information to assist endoscopists in making clinical decisions based on a comprehensive analysis of the patient's condition, available courses of action, local expertise, and the patient's values and preferences. The document serves as an update to a previous guideline prepared by the Standards of Practice Committee of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2013.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the dose and effectiveness of ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (USgHIFU) ablation of uterine fibroids with different sizes and explore the effect of uterine fibroid size on dose, providing dose evaluation for clinicians. Results showed that a single-session HIFU ablation for uterine fibroids of 3-11 cm can achieve an NPVR of more than 80%. EEF decreased with increasing size of uterine fibroids, with 6.5 cm considered a clinically meaningful point affecting EEF.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the vaginal microbiota of uterine fibroid patients with and without high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The results showed that the alpha-diversity of vaginal microbiota was significantly lower in uterine fibroid patients with HIFU treatment, and the abundance of some pathogenic bacteria was significantly decreased at the phylum and genus level. Proteobacteria were found to be significantly upregulated as a biomarker in the HIFU treatment group.

Summary: This study aimed to comprehensively analyze adverse events in patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids who underwent magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy in a major Polish center. The study included 372 patients and found an overall occurrence rate of adverse events of 8.9%, with abdominal pain being the most common. The results suggested that MR-HIFU is a safe procedure, and the occurrence of adverse events is not dependent on technical parameters or characteristics of the fibroids.

Summary: High-intensity focused ultrasound is a novel and non-invasive treatment method that is similar to focusing the sun's rays with a magnifying glass. It has shown promising results in trials for the treatment of renal and prostate cancers in urological surgery. The technology is rapidly evolving and has the potential to become a standard treatment for various diseases as it improves over time.

Summary: The paper proposes an all-in-one method for monitoring high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) thermal ablations using magnetic resonance-supersonic shear wave imaging (MR-SSI) and proton resonance frequency shift (PRFS). The method allows simultaneous monitoring of temperature and elasticity changes, ensuring the efficacy and accuracy of HIFU therapies.

Summary: This study found that IDO1 is associated with cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer, and high IDO1 levels are correlated with poor prognosis. In experiments, up-regulating IDO1 weakened DDP-induced apoptosis, while silencing IDO1 enhanced apoptosis and the effect of DDP. These results indicate that targeting IDO1 could modulate the efficacy of platinum-based chemotherapy.

Summary: In this study, ultrasound was used to enhance the effects of ZD2767P+CPG2 against cisplatin-resistant lung cancer cells. The combination of ZD2767P+CPG2+US induced cell death and apoptosis, with stronger effects compared to ZD2767P+CPG2 alone. It also caused DNA double-strand breaks and altered the levels of transferrin, ferroportin, and GPX4. The intracellular pharmacokinetics and xenograft tumor experiments confirmed the effectiveness of ZD2767P+CPG2+US as a potential therapy for cisplatin-resistant lung cancer.
