Summary: Treating estrogen-dependent diseases with novel dual STS/17β-HSD1 inhibitors (DSHIs) may provide a superior alternative to existing endocrine therapies. Compound 5 showed irreversible inhibition of STS and potent, reversible inhibition of 17 β-HSD1 in T47D cells. It exhibited high selectivity and metabolic stability, with no effect on cell viability or activation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR).

Summary: This study found that 17-beta-estradiol (E2) can promote the proliferation, migration, and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) through the c-Src/ERK1/2/Smad1 signaling pathway. These findings shed new light on the mechanisms of E2 in endometriosis and may provide novel strategies for its treatment.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests a connection between inflammatory pathways and the female sex hormone 17 beta-estradiol, leading to immune dysregulation in SLE patients. Treatment with 17 beta-estradiol increases expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, as well as interferon-stimulated genes in both healthy individuals and SLE patients.

Summary: Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent disease, and this study investigates the role of circ_0075503 in migration and invasion of eutopic endometrial stromal cells. The findings show that circ_0075503 expression is elevated in ectopic endometrium and ectopic ESCs, and its down-regulation suppresses E2-induced promotion of cell viability, migration, and invasion. Circ_0075503 acts as a sponge for miR-15a-5p to regulate KLF12 expression.

Summary: The bacterial strain Rhodococcus sp. ED55 isolated from sediments of a discharge point of a wastewater treatment plant in Macau was found to effectively degrade 17 beta-estradiol (E2) and its metabolites, with the potential to eliminate toxicity in treated effluent and reduce estrogenic activity in wastewater samples. The results suggest that Rhodococcus sp. ED55 shows promise as a bioremediation agent for E2-contaminated environments.

Summary: Truncated aptamer E09, derived from original E00, showed improved affinity and higher specificity for E2 detection, achieving a detection limit of 0.02μg/mL using gold nanoparticles-based colorimetric method. This work demonstrates the potential application of truncated aptamers in detection of E2 and provides a proof-of-concept study for truncation of other long-sequence aptamers.

Summary: Thermosynechococcus sp. CL-1 (TCL-1) has been found to efficiently utilize CO2 under extreme conditions, and its growth can be enhanced by the addition of 17 beta-estradiol (E2). Optimal growth and biomass productivity can be achieved with specific light intensity and nitrogen levels, and TCL-1 can simultaneously remove estrogen and fix CO2.

Summary: The study developed a GAP bioink for engineering highly vascularized bone tissues using prevascularized mesenchymal spheroids. The prevascularized spheroids formed an interconnected vascular network through angiogenic sprouting after printing. The results showed that prevascularized spheroids were more conducive to osteogenesis and angiogenesis.

Summary: This study presents a methodology for fabricating soft vascularized tissue at centimeter scale using multimaterial bioprinting with a customized multistage-temperature-control printer. The printed constructs can support 3D capillary networks to mimic mature and functional liver tissue, and also enable direct surgical anastomosis of blood vessels with the printed pressure-bearing layer. This versatile platform allows for optimal cellularization in engineered tissues through the replication of vasculature networks.

Summary: Gastroparesis is a severe complication observed in women with diabetes mellitus, characterized by abnormal gastric emptying without mechanical obstruction. Our study demonstrates the protective effects of supplemental 17 beta-estradiol on NO-mediated gastric function. The administration of E-2 alleviates oxidative and inflammatory stress and improves metabolic homeostasis in diabetic mice.

Summary: This study found that patients with EM had lower alpha diversity and higher Firmicutes / Bacteroidetes ratio in gut microbiota compared to healthy controls. The abundances of various taxa were significantly different between the two groups. Serum levels of E2 and IL-8 were significantly higher in the EM group, and the gut microbiota of the EM group showed enrichment in multiple microbial functional categories.

Summary: Our research demonstrates that natural polysaccharides play a crucial role in the treatment of ovarian cancer by inhibiting cell growth and migration, inducing apoptosis, and enhancing the efficacy of chemotherapy drugs. Therefore, polysaccharides can be considered as a novel anticancer agent or used in combination with chemotherapy drugs for the prevention and treatment of ovarian cancer.
