Summary: This study aims to investigate the existence of gender-related publication biases in high-ranking US nephrology journals and their changes over time. Through analyzing articles published in these journals from 2011 to 2021, it was found that the ratio of male to female first authors has decreased, while the proportion of female first authors has increased. This indicates that gender biases still exist but are gradually diminishing.

Summary: This meta-research analysis evaluated the publication profiles, impact, and conflicts of interest disclosures of non-research authors who published over 200 papers in high impact scientific journals. The results found that many prolific authors, particularly in the field of COVID-19, had significant influence without much publication in other indexed literature. Only a few authors disclosed potential conflicts of interest. This raises the need for further debate on the power given to non-researchers in shaping scientific discourse and emphasizes the importance of disclosing potential conflicts of interest.

Summary: This study examines the behavior and collaboration patterns of authors in scientific publications using the clinical medicine field as an example. The findings suggest that authors with multiple retracted publications are more likely to engage in falsification and ethical issues, and two typical patterns of retractions were identified. The team culture, regulations, publication policies, and joint efforts by the scientific community play a significant role in preventing scientific misconduct.

Summary: The algorithm presented in the article addresses the problem of finding corresponding authors of patents and scientific articles by combining record linkage framework with text feature extraction and machine learning techniques. Three strategies were proposed to improve the quality of record linkage, including fuzzy matching of names, comparison of abstracts, and comparison of scientists' main research areas. Evaluation showed that these strategies enhance the quality of record linkage compared to conventional solutions.

Summary: This study aimed to identify and describe the use of the GRADE approach for rating the certainty of evidence in urology and nephrology journals. A total of 445 systematic reviews were analyzed, and only 11% evaluated the certainty of evidence for specific outcomes. The study found that approximately 55% of non-randomized study SRs had a very low certainty of evidence rating, compared to 23% of randomized controlled trial SRs.

Summary: This study measures the tendency to publish in international scientific journals and examines the differences in globalization indicators among disciplines and countries. The results show that advanced countries have a high level of globalization in scientific communication, with social sciences and health sciences being less globalized. The former Soviet bloc countries score lower on the globalization measures, especially in social sciences and health sciences. Russia remains among the least globalized countries throughout the study period, while China has significantly globalized its science system.

Summary: This study conducted a series of triaxial tests on artificial methane hydrate-bearing specimens, and discussed the effects of effective confining pressure and hydrate saturation on the strength parameters and stress-dilatancy characteristics. The results showed that the strength and stiffness of hydrate-bearing sediments increase with increasing effective confining pressure, and shearing under high effective confining pressure leads to significant breakage of host particles.

Summary: This study presents the design and fabrication of a multifunctional directional coupler on a dielectric multilayer platform, enabling spectral and polarimetric routing through asymmetric nanoslits. The behavior of the directional coupling is highly sensitive to wavelength and polarization due to the dispersion property of Bloch surface waves. Wavelength selective directional coupling of TE BSW mode and polarization selective directional coupling are achieved, offering potential applications in molecular sensing, polarization imaging, and spectral requirements.

Summary: This paper investigates the observer-based dynamic event-triggered semiglobal bipartite consensus (SGBC) for linear multi-agent systems (MASs) with input saturation under a competitive network. Distributed dynamic event-triggered control (DETC) protocols are proposed for solving the SGBC problems for MASs under different topologies. The bipartite consensus conditions are obtained using gauge transformation and the Lyapunov theory. Simulation examples are presented to verify the theoretical results efficiently.

Summary: With the emergence of mobile edge computing (MEC), offloading tasks to edge servers can efficiently solve the limitations of computing resources and battery capacity on mobile devices. However, meeting users' quality of service (QoS) requirements remains challenging due to the variability of mobile users' service demands and the cost of expanding edge servers. This paper proposes mobile device selection algorithms (MDSA) and a joint social-aware and mobility-aware computation offloading algorithm (JSMCO) to address these challenges, resulting in reduced energy consumption and improved QoS for users.
