Laser transmission welding (LTW) of thermoplastics is gaining importance as an alternative to other welding processes such as heated tool, friction, and ultrasonic. The advantages of laser-based welding are the high flexibility of the process, low mechanical load, weldability of complex geometries, precise spatial control of energy in the process zone, and attainability of high feed rates.
