Summary: The study found that patients had relatively low levels of decision regret and relatively high levels of satisfaction with breasts, regardless of whether they had implant-based or autologous breast reconstruction. The occurrence of postoperative complications significantly increased levels of decision regret but did not impact satisfaction with breasts. Patients may benefit from more preoperative education on possible complications to reduce decision regret.

Summary: This study demonstrated that women who viewed an individualized 3D simulation of likely aesthetic outcome for breast-conserving treatment were more confident going into surgery than those who received standard care or viewed 2D photographs of other women. However, the impact on longer-term satisfaction with outcome remains to be determined.

Summary: This study explored the impact of reconstruction type on the number of revisions and secondary reconstructions performed after immediate breast reconstruction. The results showed that implant-based reconstruction required more revisions and secondary reconstructions compared to tissue-based reconstruction.

Summary: The study found that women undergoing unilateral mastectomy had higher breast satisfaction and psychosocial well-being scores compared to those undergoing unilateral or bilateral mastectomy. Additionally, cancer-related distress, anxiety, and depression scores significantly decreased after surgery, regardless of the surgical procedure.

Summary: The paper aims to investigate the effects of informing women about breast cancer screening on their knowledge, time perspective, worry, and intention to participate in the screening. The study also explores the mediating effects of anticipated regret, decisional conflict, and attitude on intention. The results indicate that information has an impact on knowledge, but not on time perspective and worry, while behavioral variables influence intention indirectly through the mediating variables.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of volume of breast tissue removed and performance of re-excisions on patient quality of life and breast satisfaction following breast conserving surgery. The findings suggest that larger volume of tissue removal and re-excisions negatively impact physical and psychosocial well-being of patients, emphasizing the importance of minimizing these factors for optimal patient reported outcomes.

Summary: This paper introduces a framework called RLCFR, which aims to improve the generalization ability of the CFR method. The method solves game strategy in a reinforcement learning framework and learns the appropriate method of regret updating in the iteration process. Experimental results show that the generalization ability of this method is significantly enhanced compared to existing state-of-the-art methods.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel group emergency decision making method based on heterogeneous probabilistic hesitant information sets and regret theory. The method employs various mathematical forms to handle decision information and uses Dempster-Shafer theory to determine the probabilities of future possible states. An example analysis demonstrates the superiority, stability, and validity of the proposed method.

Summary: The study aimed to estimate the cumulative risks of all cancers in women aged 50 to 75 with a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation. The results showed that women with BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations have a high risk of cancer, particularly breast and ovarian cancer, between the ages of 50 and 75. Therefore, appropriate counseling should be provided to these women.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the pathogenic variant yield for nine cancer predisposition genes by testing criteria. Results showed that of the 1006 women studied, 100 women (9.9%) were found to have a pathogenic variant in one of the nine genes tested. The highest prevalence of pathogenic variants was found in women with triple-negative breast cancer (23%).

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a theory-based behavioral intervention delivered by genetic counselors on the uptake of risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) by women with BRCA1 or BRCA2 pathogenic variants (PVs) compared to usual care. Findings showed that the intervention significantly reduced decisional conflict and increased knowledge at one-year, and resulted in a higher proportion of RRSO at two years compared to usual care.

Summary: This study assessed the outcomes of fat grafting before two-stage implant-based breast reconstruction in patients who had undergone mastectomy and radiation therapy. Results showed that there were no reconstructive failures and the short-term complication rate was 5%. Two patients developed capsular contracture grade IV and four patients required additional fat grafting for contour deformities.

Summary: This study explores how cognitive difficulties affect the everyday lives of survivors of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The findings show that cognitive symptoms change the experience of everyday tasks, provoke emotional responses, and lead to the adoption of mitigation strategies. These findings have implications for developing patient-centered approaches to assessing and managing cognitive difficulties.

Summary: Individuals with hereditary cancer syndrome have increased risk of ovarian, breast, and other types of cancers. However, most high-risk individuals in Canada are unaware of their risk. To address this issue, the British Columbia Gynecologic Cancer Initiative organized a research summit to explore the potential of population-based genetic testing in preventing hereditary cancer and reducing morbidity and mortality.

Summary: This review evaluates the psychological and health behavior outcomes associated with multi-gene panel testing for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) risk. Individuals with a pathogenic variant (PV) reported higher levels of testing-related concerns, cancer-specific distress, and uptake of prophylactic surgery compared to those with variant of uncertain significance (VUS) or negative result. The impact of gene penetrance on patient-reported and clinical outcomes remains limited and conflicting.
