Summary: Three new sesquilignans (Eleutherocosus A (1), Eleutherocosus B (2) and Eleutherocosus C (3)) and seven known lignans (4-10) were isolated from the EtOAc-soluble extract of Eleutherococcus senticosus. The structures were determined through spectroscopic and physicochemical analyses. The inhibitory activity of all isolates against DGAT1 and DGAT2 was evaluated. Compounds 1-3 exhibited the most potent inhibitory activity against DGAT1 with IC50 values of 71.4 +/- 1.3, 79.1 +/- 1.1, and 65.2 +/- 1.2 μM, respectively.

Summary: The alkaloidal extract derived from Zanthoxylum zanthoxyloides showed antidiabetic and insulin secretory effects in normoglycemic and experimental diabetic rats, with potential for diabetes management. The extract improved glucose kinetics, restored islet population, and insulin levels, and stimulated insulin secretion, indicating its potential as a treatment for diabetes.

Summary: This study investigated the potential use of naringin, a flavanone, in treating streptozotocin-induced diabetic neuropathy (DN) in rat models. The results showed that naringin treatment improved DN symptoms and helped restore the normal structure of the brain and pancreas tissues. The neuroprotective properties of naringin may be attributed to its ability to suppress the overactivation of inflammatory molecules and mediators of oxidative stress.

Summary: Casein hydrolysates have shown potential as anti-diabetic food, with the newly identified peptide Val-Pro-Leu-Gly demonstrating effectiveness in reducing blood glucose levels when orally administered to mice. P-FCH activates the non-insulin-mediated AMPK pathway to exert its hypoglycemic effect in diabetic rats and HepG2 cells.

Summary: The study found that diabetic rats had higher inflammatory status and lower hematological parameters, but these improved after treatment with V, with higher serum iron levels. V reduced the gene expression of hepcidin in diabetic rats, improving the anemic state caused by diabetes.

Summary: The study suggests that double-headed nanosystems containing curcumin (nCUR) can alleviate diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and show better outcomes when combined with long-acting subcutaneous insulin (INS). nCUR can protect nerve axons and fibers, reduce inflammation and cell death. Therefore, nCUR may be a potential treatment for DPN.

Summary: The study investigated the efficacy of Citrus maxima fruit segments fortified paranthas in diabetic rats. The group treated with paranthas fortified with pomelo fruit segment showed significant improvements in weight gain, plasma glucose levels, serum protein, and insulin levels compared to the diabetic control group. The antidiabetic activity was found to be more pronounced in the order of pomelo juice > fortified paranthas > naringin.
