Summary: This study investigated the phenotypic, pathogenic, and genetic diversity of Diplodia seriata, the pathogen causing black rot canker of apple. The results showed that there were variations in mycelial growth rates and canker size among different isolates, but no relationship was found between genetic clustering and geographic origin, morphology, or pathogenicity. This research provides important insights into the diversity of D. seriata and its significance for apple black rot canker.

Summary: Grafting technology is used to control the trunk canker disease of Chinese hickory. In this study, it was found that the disease was more serious in self-grafted Chinese hickory, while it was less serious in Chinese hickory grafted onto Hunan pecan. The causal agent of the disease was identified as Botryosphaeria dothidea. This study demonstrates the potential of using Hunan pecan as a rootstock to control the canker disease in Chinese hickory.

Summary: This study compared the physiological and metabolic responses of a salt-tolerant accession of Vitis sylvestris, Tebaba, from Tunisia, with the widely used 1103 Paulsen rootstock in the Mediterranean. It was found that Tebaba can cope with salinity through robust redox homeostasis, rechanneling metabolic pathways towards antioxidants and compatible osmolytes, and buffering photosynthesis to avoid cell-wall breakdown. It is suggested that introgression of Tebaba into commercial grapevine varieties is preferred over using Tebaba as a rootstock for improving salt tolerance.

Summary: This study evaluated the growth, yield, and fruit characteristics of 'Mateur' and 'Achouri' pistachio cultivars grafted on P. vera and P. atlantica rootstocks in northeastern Tunisia. Results showed that annual bio-climatic features significantly affected all parameters studied. 'Mateur' cultivar had higher vigor and fruit yield compared to 'Achouri'. Fruit production was higher in P. atlantica rootstock for 'Mateur' but similar in both studied rootstocks for 'Achouri'. The fatty acid profiles of the kernels were not significantly affected by the cultivar, rootstock, or their combination.
