Summary: In this study, a ultra-simple online analysis method was developed for labeling N-glycans and detecting them using high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD). This method addresses the disadvantages of current in-solution N-glycan analysis, such as time-consuming deglycosylation and multi-step pre-treatment procedures. By using a specially designed device, efficient preparation of all types of N-glycans can be completed within a short time (~30 min). The method demonstrates good reproducibility and stability with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 10%. Additionally, it shows good adaptability for biological samples, as demonstrated by glycome studies with human serum. This efficient N-glycomic strategy can be further applied to multilayered clinical analysis.

Summary: Twelve pairs of enantiomers, including three known and twenty one undescribed sesquineolignans, were isolated from Neoshirakia japonica. The separation of these enantiomers was successfully achieved using chiral HPLC columns. The absolute configurations of all undescribed sesquineolignans were determined by analyzing their experimental ECD spectra. The isolated compounds showed limited effect on the inhibition of NO production, but compound 3c exhibited moderate radical scavenging ability.

Summary: Ilex rotunda, a plant used in traditional medicine, was investigated for its antioxidant activity. The twig extract showed the highest antioxidant capacity, and the n-butanol fraction exhibited the most significant antioxidant effect. Eight marker compounds were isolated and their structures were determined. Compound 7, 4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, demonstrated potent antioxidant activity and penetration across the blood-brain barrier, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic candidate for central nervous system diseases.

Summary: The study showed that flavonoids in Rosa sterilis can be effectively extracted using ultrasonic method, and these flavonoids have strong antioxidant activities. The order of the effects of the parameters on the experiment was material liquid ratio > extraction power > extraction time > ethanol concentration. Furthermore, the extraction process was found to conform to Fick's first law.

Summary: A new method based on salting-out assisted liquid-liquid extraction (SALLE) coupled with HPLC-UV has been developed for the analysis of vitamin D3 in different pharmaceutical dosage forms. The method has been optimized in terms of chromatographic and extraction parameters, and validated in terms of selectivity, linearity, accuracy, LOD, LOQ, robustness, and stability. The results indicate that the SALLE method offers a simpler and more efficient approach for vitamin D3 determination, with low deviations compared to the conventional USP method.

Summary: The conditions for determining the antioxidant properties of cyclitols, flavanones, and glutathione have been identified. The low antioxidative properties of cyclitols compared to flavanones and glutathione were revealed. However, the methyl-ether derivatives of cyclitols showed a significant increase in the antioxidative properties of glutathione.

Summary: The study focused on developing a method to isolate and purify oleocanthalic acid from olive oil, and then used the pure oleocanthalic acid to develop a high performance liquid chromatography method for qualitative and quantitative analysis of oleocanthalic acid content in olive oil. Preliminary assessment showed that oleocanthalic acid has a higher quenching efficiency for HOCl than O-2(center dot-).

Summary: To survive in a competitive market, traditional raw-milk cheeses need to adapt to modern market demands and control bacterial growth and enhance proteolysis by adding autochthonous lactic acid bacteria. However, adding autochthonous LAB to pasteurised milk has not yet met the corresponding PDO criteria.
