One new flavone derivative, urinariaflavone (1), and eight known compounds (2-9) were isolated from the methanolic extract of Phyllanthus urinaria L. leaves. Their structures were established by MS, 1D and 2D NMR experiments, and comparison with literature data. All isolated compounds were tested for their cytotoxic activity against CHO (Chinese hamster ovary) and J774 (Murine macrophage) cell lines. Cytotoxic effects (IC(50)s similar to 6.00-41.30 mM) on both cell lines were observed for compounds 4, 5, and 7. (C) 2013 Phytochemical Society of Europe. Published by Elsevier B.V.
