Summary: This study investigates the genetic distribution of Y-STRs in the Guizhou Dong population and explores their phylogenetic relationships with other populations. The results show that the Guizhou Dong population has the closest genetic relationship with the Hunan Dong population. This research enriches the Y-STR data of different ethnic groups in China and has important implications for population genetics and forensic research.

Summary: By applying renormalization group theory, this study analyzed the microstructures of red-bed soft rocks and proposed granular unit and stripy unit models to describe their self-similar characteristics, achieving consistent results with experiments. The critical reductions of strength induced by water and the critical state of damage propagation caused by stress were studied. The results showed that the renormalization group theory effectively connected micro damage and strength deterioration, providing guidance for engineering applications.

Summary: In historical cases, teeth or bone samples are often the best biological material available for DNA typing. However, DNA obtained from bone material may have degradation or low content issues. This study suggests using two different DNA quantification methods and considering the degradation index can provide a more precise evaluation of DNA quality and quantity.

Summary: Age prediction is important in forensic and aging research. Previous methods focused on DNA methylation, telomere shortening, and mitochondrial DNA mutations. This study investigated age prediction based on the percentage of loss of Y chromosome (LOY) using ddPCR in 232 healthy males. The correlation between age and LOY percentage was significant in blood samples, but not in saliva and semen samples.

Summary: In this study, a complexation-distribution separated extraction process was proposed to accelerate the extraction of inert platinum group metals (PGMs). Water-soluble complexes of Ru(III) and Rh(III) with PDA were successfully formed in aqueous solution, and then extracted to the organic phase containing Tf2N- within minutes at room temperature. The use of water-soluble ligands and anionic phase-transfer catalyst proved to be effective in promoting the extraction of PGMs.

Summary: This study proposes a new method to measure the uniformity of temperature and phase distribution in direct contact boiling heat transfer and explores the relationship between bubble distribution and temperature distribution. The results show that the uniformity of bubble distribution is crucial in improving heat transfer performance, and the non-uniformity of temperature mainly originates from improper mixing of different temperature streams entering the heat exchanger.

Summary: This paper presents a method for genotyping a panel of 60 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) using single-stage PCR followed by hybridization on a hydrogel biochip. The genetic data obtained can be used to predict the phenotype of an individual, including eye, hair, and skin color, AB0 blood group, sex, and male line genogeographic origin. Furthermore, the study establishes the allele frequency distribution of the studied polymorphisms and AB0 blood groups among the Slavic population.
