The distribution of the gluon action density in mesonic systems is investigated at finite temperature. The simulations are performed in quenched QCD for two temperatures below the deconfinement phase. Unlike the gluonic profiles displayed at T = 0, the action-density isosurfaces display a prolate-spheroid-like shape. The curved width profile of the flux tube is found to be consistent with the prediction of the free bosonic string model at large distances.

Strong first order electroweak phase transition in 2HDM confronting future Z & Higgs factories

Wei Su, Anthony G. Williams, Mengchao Zhang

Summary: This paper studies the realization of a strong first order electroweak phase transition in the type-I and type-II two Higgs doublet models, discovering an upper limit on the masses of heavy Higgs around 1 TeV through a parameter space scan. The analysis indicates specific requirements for meeting the SFOEWPT condition, considering theoretical constraints and precision measurements at future Higgs & Z factories.

Sensitivity of Parity-Violating Electron Scattering to a Dark Photon

A. W. Thomas, X. G. Wang, A. G. Williams

Summary: The paper examines the sensitivity of the parity-violating electron scattering asymmetry to the properties of a dark photon, and explores its impact on both elastic and deep-inelastic scattering. With recent advancements in experimental capabilities, there is potential for discovering new physics through PVES, as well as a potential for altering our understanding of atomic nuclei, neutron stars, and parton distribution functions through the existence of a dark photon.

Probing EWPT in 2HDM with future lepton colliders

Wei Su, Anthony. G. G. Williams, Mengchao Zhang

Summary: By extending the Higgs sector in the Standard Model with extra scalars, the electroweak phase transition can be made first order. In this study, we focus on the strong first-order electroweak phase transition in the Type-II two Higgs doublet models. Through a parameter space scan, we find upper limits on the masses of the heavy Higgs, which are less than 1TeV. High-temperature expansion and Higgs vacuum uplifting are used for analytical understanding of the results. We also investigate the possibility of probing the strong first-order electroweak phase transition at the one-loop level through precision measurements at future Higgs and Z factories.

Static quark potential from center vortices in the presence of dynamical fermions

James C. Biddle, Waseem Kamlehe, Derek B. Leinweber

Summary: This study identifies center vortices for the first time on SU(3) lattice ensembles with dynamical fermions. By using a variational method, the static quark potential is calculated on different field configurations, including untouched, vortex-removed, and vortex-only fields. The impact of dynamical fermions on the center-vortex vacuum is explored by studying two dynamical ensembles and one pure gauge ensemble. Novel modifications to the standard Coulomb term are introduced to improve the accuracy of the fitted string tension on the original ensembles. The results show that the vortex-only fields on both dynamical ensembles can fully reproduce the respective untouched string tensions.

Smoothing algorithms for projected center-vortex gauge fields

Adam Virgili, Waseem Kamleh, Derek Leinweber

Summary: This article studies the application of SU(3) gauge field smoothing methods to Z(3)-projected center-vortex gauge fields. The issues of proportionality and maintaining the underlying vortex structure are overcome using centrifuge preconditioning and vortex-preserved annealed smoothing methods, achieving the desired smoothness condition.

Impact of dynamical fermions on the center vortex gluon propagator

James C. Biddle, Waseem Kamleh, Derek B. Leinweber

Summary: The presence of dynamical fermions alters the behavior of the center vortex propagator and shows signs of positivity violation. Removing the vortices subsequently restores positivity, demonstrating the crucial role center vortices play in the confinement of gluons.

Perturbative width of open rigid strings

A. S. Bakry, M. A. Deliyergiyev, A. A. Galal, M. N. Khalil

Summary: In this paper, we present a perturbative calculation of the energy profile width of rigid strings up to two loops in D dimensions. We use the perturbative expansion of the extrinsic curvature term to study the rigidity/smoothness of the string in the Polyakov-Kleinert action. By deriving the mean-square width of the string field for open strings with the Dirichlet boundary condition, we compare the broadening of the smooth Polyakov-Kleinert string to lattice Monte Carlo data of the QCD flux tube, finding a good match at intermediate and large color source separation.

Constraints on the dark photon from deep inelastic scattering

A. W. Thomas, X. G. Wang, A. G. Williams

Summary: We investigate constraints on the dark photon arising from deep inelastic scattering data. By extracting parton distribution functions and considering the variations of the dark photon mixing parameter and mass, as well as the effects of vector-meson dominance, exclusion limits on the kinetic mixing parameter of the dark photon are inferred.

Quark-gluon vertex from Nf=2 lattice QCD

Ayse Kizilersu, Orlando Oliveira, Paulo J. Silva, Jon-Ivar Skullerud, Andre Sternbeck

Summary: The study shows that the quark-gluon vertex has significant infrared strength in the limit of vanishing gluon momentum, with the form factors lambda(1) and lambda(3) being significantly enhanced in the infrared compared to the quenched case. The enhancements are orders of magnitude larger than predicted by one-loop perturbation theory, with only a weak dependence on lattice spacing and quark mass.

S. Burger, S. Collins, M. Gockeler, M. Gruber, S. Piemonte, A. Schafer, A. Sternbeck, P. Wein

Summary: The study presents nonperturbative computation of renormalization factors in the RI'-(S)MOM schemes for QCD gauge field ensembles generated by CLS effort with three flavors of nonperturbatively improved Wilson quarks. Various boundary conditions and operators were considered in the study. Results for the RI'-SMOM scheme were obtained using three-loop conversion factors to the (MS) over bar scheme.

Regularization in nonperturbative extensions of effective field theory

Curtis D. Abell, Derek B. Leinweber, Anthony W. Thomas, Jia-Jun Wu

Summary: The process of renormalization in nonperturbative Hamiltonian effective field theory (HEFT) is examined in the Delta-resonance scattering channel. HEFT provides a bridge between the infinite-volume scattering data of experiment and the finite-volume spectrum of energy eigenstates in lattice QCD, and examines the sensitivity of the finite-volume spectrum and state composition on the regulator.
