The structural, optical and magnetic properties of iron oxide films were investigated. Raman spectroscopy results demonstrate that different iron oxide polymorphs can coexist in the sprayed films. It also showed that thickness plays an important role in the development of mixed or pure hematite films. Among the phases detected in the films are feroxyhyte and maghemite. Additionally, the control of the magnetic properties by varying the deposition temperature and thickness is established in this work. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
