Summary: This study aimed to map and describe available data sources for drug utilization research in Peru. The findings revealed limited data sources for drug utilization research in Peru, indicating a need for increased monitoring of medications for decision-making purposes. Collaborations between the government, academic institutions, and the private sector, both locally and internationally, could be a good strategy to enhance data transparency and support decision-making through drug utilization research.

Summary: This study aims to identify and characterize data sources for Drug Utilization Research (DUR) in Brazil. A total of 62 data sources were identified and screened, with 38 meeting the eligibility criteria for inclusion and being fully characterized. The data sources were grouped into categories such as automated databases, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), national surveys or datasets, adverse event reporting systems, and others. Most of the data sources provided comprehensive data coverage for over 5 years and included both individual and aggregated data. However, information about population coverage was lacking.

Summary: This study compared the consistency of data on antimicrobial consumption between three different data collection methods and found a lack of data consistency among the sources. None of the methods was able to collect the integral antimicrobial consumption in the participating farms, highlighting the need for a standardized system to quantify and assess antimicrobial consumption at veterinary practice and farm level.

Summary: This study provides an overview of using smartphone apps for data collection in research, particularly focusing on longitudinal studies. Results show a wide range in duration of data collection and participant age in studies using smartphone apps, with advantages such as real-time information transfer, fast synchronization, and longitudinal tracking. Further feasibility studies are needed to test the applicability and acceptance of these mobile apps in epidemiological research across different subpopulations.

Summary: This systematic review of 145 studies highlights the imbalance in pedestrian behaviour research, particularly in large complex scenarios and high-risk situations. It also points out issues with current research, such as lack of comprehensive data sets, limited generalizability, and high experimental costs. The review identifies potential solutions through the adoption of new technologies like VR experiments, large-scale crowd monitoring, and the Internet of Things to advance pedestrian behaviour research.

Summary: This study aims to characterize changes in opioid and other analgesic prescribing in Ireland over a 15-year period (2000-2015). The results show an increased prescribing of opioids, particularly strong opioids, between 2000 and 2015 in Ireland. This is concerning due to the potential for misuse and opioid-related morbidity/mortality.

Summary: This study investigated whether the incidence of surgical site infections (SSIs) after colorectal surgery varies between hospitals and whether this variance can be explained by hospital characteristics. The results showed that procedural variables and hospital dimension can explain almost half of the variance in SSI, indicating the importance of considering these factors when implementing prevention strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to describe pet ownership in a breast cancer cohort within 5 years post-diagnosis and identify associated factors. Results showed that 51.7% of patients had pets at diagnosis, which increased to 58.4% at 5 years. Women with depressive symptoms and poor quality of life were more likely to stop having pets, while older and unpartnered women were less likely to start having pets.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the trajectories of anxiety and depression symptoms among breast cancer patients in the span of five years. The results showed that the majority of patients had stable anxiety and depression symptoms over the five-year period, while a small portion experienced either increasing or decreasing symptoms. Age, education, baseline, and one-year status of anxiety and depression could predict the worst trajectories over five years.
