Summary: This study prepared a photocatalyst with high desulfurization and denitrogenation activities by Er, W, and N co-doping modification of TiO2. Experimental results showed that the desulfurization and denitrogenation ratios were both 100% under suitable conditions. The co-doping of Er, W, and N extended the photo-absorption range and improved the hole-electron separation of TiO2.

Summary: A magnetic hybrid material Fe2O3/C was prepared by pyrolysis of MIL-101 (Fe) in the presence of nitrogen flow and (Bu4N)3PWxMo4-x catalysts were encapsulated into it through impregnation method. The (Bu4N)3PW4@Fe2O3/C catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic activity for the desulfurization of model fuel, showing a DBT removal efficiency of 99.9% within 30 minutes. It also demonstrated good activity for other substrate sulfides and remained stable with a removal efficiency of>90% after 8 cycles.

Summary: The direct electrosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide from the air is a promising alternative to the energy-intensive anthraquinone process. However, current methods suffer from low productivity and high energy consumption. In this study, a continuous flow sulfite/air fuel cell with a sulfite depolarized anode is proposed as a direct synthesis strategy. By optimizing catalysts and cell parameters, the prototype cell achieved high selectivity and productivity, with low energy consumption. The desulfurization solution from the flue gas desulfurization process is applied as the anolyte, further enhancing hydrogen peroxide synthesis and recovering sulfur as fertilizer.

Summary: In this study, a series of catalysts [Cnmim]5VW12O40Br (CnVW12) with different alkyl chain lengths were used for the catalytic oxidation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and its derivatives at room temperature. The impact of catalyst amount, oxidant, and temperature on the reaction process were investigated. Among them, C16VW12 exhibited higher catalytic performance, achieving 100% conversion and selectivity in 50 minutes with only 10 mg of catalyst. The mechanism study revealed that the hydroxyl radical played a crucial role in the reaction. Furthermore, the use of a polarity strategy resulted in the accumulation of sulfone products with a yield of approximately 84% and 100% purity after 23 cycles in the C16VW12 system.

Summary: The interfacial properties and active site distribution of catalysts have a significant impact on catalytic oxidative desulfurization activity, which has been a research focus in recent years. In this study, an amphiphilic and polyoxometalate poly(ionic liquids) were prepared through cross-linking copolymerization and ion exchange reaction for desulfurization in fuel. The resulting sample, p-C2VIM-DVB-2-PMo, exhibited enhanced desulfurization performance and good thermal stability, meeting the requirements for deep desulfurization. Density functional theory calculations were also utilized to investigate the adsorption strength and interaction nature between the cation and sulfide compounds.

Summary: The study focuses on the sulfur removal from tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) by distillation and oxidation desulfurization process (ODS). A fraction of TPO with boiling point range of 190-350 °C, designated as TPO190-350 °C, was obtained by distillation. The sulfides in TPO190-350 °C were mainly benzothiophene derivatives. A POM-based catalyst was used in the ODS process to remove sulfur compounds from the oil, and it showed excellent catalytic performance and recyclability. The desulfurization efficiency of TPO190-350 °C was achieved up to 91.28%, reducing the initial sulfur contents from 11033 ppm to 961 ppm.

Summary: Methyl-terminated polyoxymethylene ethers (MM-POMEs) are oxygenates with desirable diesel-like fuel properties. However, their low energy density and high water-solubility have limited their adoption. By synthesizing a mixture called B*POME1-6, which maintained the advantageous properties of MM-POMEs and had improved energy density and reduced water solubility, these concerns were addressed. The B*POME1-6 blend with a base diesel fuel showed improved oxidation stability, cetane number, sooting tendency, lubricity, and conductivity, while meeting other requirements. Evaluation of the component molecules of B*POME1-6 suggested that they have a greater tendency to partition into water but with a lower tendency to bioaccumulate compared to a common diesel surrogate.

Summary: The study explores the ignition delay time measurements of methane/diesel mixtures with varying diesel substitution ratios, showing typical two-stage autoignition characteristics and a crossover of IDTs at high temperature. Diesel has a non-linear promoting effect on IDTs, while competition between methane and diesel for OH radicals inhibits the consumption of diesel and promotes the depletion of methane.

Summary: The study synthesized and investigated relative acyclic and macrocyclic polyamines as potential chelators for copper radiopharmaceuticals, finding that linear chelators have higher stability constants compared to macrocyclic ones, and both types of ligands have multiple donor sites. Crystal structures showed that metal cations primarily coordinate with aminogroups and picolinates donor atoms, and the coordinating position of macrocyclic ligands is outside the macrocyclic cavity.

Summary: In this study, organic-inorganic hybrid materials based on nanocrystalline indium oxide and ruthenium (II) heteroleptic complexes were developed for room temperature light-activated NO2 detection. The microstructure of indium oxide was found to influence the sensor characteristics and the kinetics of photoconductivity of the hybrid materials. The use of a Ru (II) heteroleptic complex as a photosensitizer enabled the hybrids to have sensitivity in the low energy region of the spectrum and be activated by a low power LED.

Summary: A series of tricyclic naphthothiophenes - photocyclization products were studied and their HOMO and LUMO levels, as well as charge carrier mobility, were evaluated. The 8-methoxynaphtho[1,2b]thiophene showed high charge carrier mobility, which is believed to be associated with the ordering of the high conductivity axis of the microcrystals in the layers.

Summary: In this study, a Dyad compound NI-SP with 1,8-naphthalimide (NI) and styrylpyridine (SP) photoactive units was evaluated as a ratiometric fluorescent chemosensor for mercury (II) ions in living cells. The compound selectively responds to the presence of Hg2+ by enhancing the emission intensity of NI while the fluorescence of SP remains virtually unchanged. This allows for self-calibration of the optical response. The compound shows potential for the detection and quantitative analysis of intracellular Hg2+ ions.

Summary: In this article, the first modification of nanoparticles with ligands for combined radiopharmaceuticals is reported. Nanoparticles with suitable magnetic properties can be used for both diagnostics and therapy, including magneto-mechanical therapy that is insufficiently studied. Strontium hexaferrite is a hard-magnetic material that can form stable biocompatible colloidal solutions. The nanoparticles were modified with a coupling agent and covalently linked to azacrown ether derivatives, and then radiolabeled with Bi-207. In vitro experiments showed that the complex is stable enough to be a potential theranostic radiopharmaceutical.
