The catalytic ability of crown ethers and their complexes with transition metal cations in the desulfurization reaction of mixtures that simulate diesel fuel has been investigated. It has been found that the use of monoaza-15-crown-5-ethers with an admixture of NbCl5 resulted in a fourfold decrease of the total sulfur content, thereby indicating partial oxidation of benzothiophenes and dibenzothiophenes. The complexation of azacrown ethers with NbCl5 has been studied by H-1 NMR spectroscopy. A moderate efficiency of adsorption purification procedure using silica and alumina for both initial and oxidized model mixtures has been revealed.

Comparative Study of Macrocyclic and Acyclic Picolinate Derivatives for Chelation of Copper Cations

Bayirta V. Egorova, Taisia P. Kalmykova, Anastasia D. Zubenko, Anna A. Shchukina, Valentina A. Karnoukhova, Daria V. Likhosherstova, Anna B. Priselkova, Yuri V. Fedorov, Olga A. Fedorova, Stepan N. Kalmykov

Summary: The study synthesized and investigated relative acyclic and macrocyclic polyamines as potential chelators for copper radiopharmaceuticals, finding that linear chelators have higher stability constants compared to macrocyclic ones, and both types of ligands have multiple donor sites. Crystal structures showed that metal cations primarily coordinate with aminogroups and picolinates donor atoms, and the coordinating position of macrocyclic ligands is outside the macrocyclic cavity.

In2O3 Based Hybrid Materials: Interplay between Microstructure, Photoelectrical and Light Activated NO2 Sensor Properties

Abulkosim Nasriddinov, Sergey Tokarev, Olga Fedorova, Ivan Bozhev, Marina Rumyantseva

Summary: In this study, organic-inorganic hybrid materials based on nanocrystalline indium oxide and ruthenium (II) heteroleptic complexes were developed for room temperature light-activated NO2 detection. The microstructure of indium oxide was found to influence the sensor characteristics and the kinetics of photoconductivity of the hybrid materials. The use of a Ru (II) heteroleptic complex as a photosensitizer enabled the hybrids to have sensitivity in the low energy region of the spectrum and be activated by a low power LED.

Methoxy-substituted naphthothiophenes-Single molecules? vs. condensed phase properties and prospects for organic electronics applications

Summary: A series of tricyclic naphthothiophenes - photocyclization products were studied and their HOMO and LUMO levels, as well as charge carrier mobility, were evaluated. The 8-methoxynaphtho[1,2b]thiophene showed high charge carrier mobility, which is believed to be associated with the ordering of the high conductivity axis of the microcrystals in the layers.

Fluorescent RET-Based Chemosensor Bearing 1,8-Naphthalimide and Styrylpyridine Chromophores for Ratiometric Detection of Hg2+ and Its Bio-Application

Pavel A. Panchenko, Anastasija Efremenko, Anna S. Polyakova, Alexey Feofanov, Maria A. Ustimova, Yuri Fedorov, Olga A. Fedorova

Summary: In this study, a Dyad compound NI-SP with 1,8-naphthalimide (NI) and styrylpyridine (SP) photoactive units was evaluated as a ratiometric fluorescent chemosensor for mercury (II) ions in living cells. The compound selectively responds to the presence of Hg2+ by enhancing the emission intensity of NI while the fluorescence of SP remains virtually unchanged. This allows for self-calibration of the optical response. The compound shows potential for the detection and quantitative analysis of intracellular Hg2+ ions.

Novel candidate theranostic radiopharmaceutical based on strontium hexaferrite nanoparticles conjugated with azacrown ligand

Sofia Khabirova, Gleb Aleshin, Evgeny Anokhin, Anna Shchukina, Anastasia Zubenko, Olga Fedorova, Aleksey Averin, Lev Trusov, Stepan Kalmykov

Summary: In this article, the first modification of nanoparticles with ligands for combined radiopharmaceuticals is reported. Nanoparticles with suitable magnetic properties can be used for both diagnostics and therapy, including magneto-mechanical therapy that is insufficiently studied. Strontium hexaferrite is a hard-magnetic material that can form stable biocompatible colloidal solutions. The nanoparticles were modified with a coupling agent and covalently linked to azacrown ether derivatives, and then radiolabeled with Bi-207. In vitro experiments showed that the complex is stable enough to be a potential theranostic radiopharmaceutical.

Summary: Novel conjugates consisting of 4-styrylpyridinium dye and 2,2-diphenyl-2H-chromene moiety were synthesized and their interaction with double stranded DNA and cucurbit[7]uril was investigated. The compounds were found to form supramolecular assemblies with the macromolecules through suitable binding sites, which were confirmed by various spectroscopic and mass spectrometric techniques.

Thermodynamic and Kinetic Features of Bi3+ Complexes with the Azamacrocycles H4BATA and H4DOTA

Ekaterina V. V. Matazova, Bayirta V. V. Egorova, Anastasia D. D. Zubenko, Anna V. V. Pashanova, Olga A. A. Fedorova, Stepan N. N. Kalmykov

Summary: This research determined the stability constants and kinetic properties of Bi3+ complexes with the benzoazacrown ligand H(4)BATA and H(4)DOTA ligand. The FISRE method was used to study the highly stable complexes at low pH values, allowing for the true equilibrium with the free cation forms in the solution. The H(4)BATA ligand showed high stability constants and is suitable for use in bismuth-based radiopharmaceuticals.
