Summary: The study aimed to identify the diversity of ophiostomatoid fungi associated with D. armandi infesting P. armandii in western China. Seven species belonging to five genera were identified, including three known species and two novel taxa. Ophiostoma shennongense was the dominant taxon. This study provides a valuable scientific theoretical basis for the occurrence and management of D. armandi in the future.

Summary: Ophiostomatoid fungi are associated with bark and ambrosia beetles and blue stain of economically important tree species, posing a significant threat to coniferous forests. This study reevaluated the diversity of ophiostomatoid fungi in Australian pine plantations, identifying 14 species, including seven first records for Australia and a new species. Whole genome sequencing was utilized for taxonomic surveys, facilitating the establishment of a genomic database for improved diagnostic resources and biosecurity capabilities.

Summary: An actinomycete strain K14-0274T was isolated from the root of Arisaema thunbergii Blume subsp. urashima (H. Hara) H. Ohashi et J. Murata collected in Japan. It represents a novel genus in the family Streptosporangiaceae, named Rhizohabitans arisaemae gen. nov., sp. nov. The strain exhibited distinct characteristics in terms of morphology, phylogenetics, and chemotaxonomy.

Summary: A new species of fungal pathogen, Atripes paspaligen. et sp. nov., belonging to a new genus proposed in the Magnaporthaceae family, was identified as causing take-all disease on sports lawns of P. guenoarum in Brazil. This fungus not only affects P. guenoarum, but is also capable of causing take-all disease in wheat plants.

Summary: In this study, a Gram-positive aerobic, endospore-forming bacterium isolated from the rhizosphere of maize was taxonomically characterized as a novel species of the genus Sutcliffiella, named Sutcliffiella rhizosphaerae sp. nov., based on phylogenetic analysis and DNA-DNA hybridization. The strain showed high similarity with Sutcliffiella zhanjiangensis (98.7%) and distinct differences from other closely related species of the genus Sutcliffiella.

Summary: Kiwifruit Vine Decline Syndrome (KVDS) is a soil-borne disease that causes economic losses in the Italian kiwifruit industry. This study found that different Actinidia genotypes showed varying levels of resistance to KVDS, and the presence of different oomycetes in the plant rhizosphere and endosphere correlated with the symptoms displayed. Actinidia macrosperma was found to have resistance to KVDS due to its ability to shape the pathobiome.
