Summary: The study evaluated the toxicity and feasibility of gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel/S-1 (GAS) chemotherapy on a 21-day cycle in patients with locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The results showed that GAS chemotherapy had acceptable toxicity and significant clinical control in these patients.

Summary: This study investigated the biological and functional differences driving metastasis in patients with PDAC using a mouse model. The findings revealed an association between the extent of metastasis and gene amplification or transcriptional upregulation of the MYC gene and its downstream targets. Functional experiments demonstrated that MYC promotes metastasis by recruiting tumor-associated macrophages. Further analysis showed that metastatic progression in human PDAC is associated with activation of MYC signaling pathways and MYC amplifications in metastatic patients specifically.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, and the management of locally advanced or metastatic disease is difficult due to limited treatment options. While systemic chemotherapy is commonly used, the role of radiotherapy in treatment remains unclear. This review explores the available data on radiotherapy, chemoradiation, and stereotactic body radiation therapy for locally advanced pancreatic cancer. The included studies showed conflicting results and high heterogeneity, highlighting the need for further research to improve outcomes and define the role of radiation therapy in pancreatic cancer.

Summary: The study evaluated the clinical outcomes of combined chemotherapy and endoscopic ultrasound-guided intratumoral radioactive phosphorus-32 implantation in locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The results showed that the implantation procedure was successful, well tolerated, and resulted in a significant reduction in tumor volume. Some patients achieved downstaging of the tumor, leading to successful surgical resection.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of a virtual assistant called Nurse AMIE in addressing symptoms in metastatic breast cancer patients. In a partial crossover randomized trial, the intervention group received the intervention for 6 months, while the comparison group was unexposed for the first 3 months and then exposed for 3 months. Although there were high levels of acceptability, feasibility, and satisfaction, the intervention did not have statistically significant effects on symptoms, quality of life, or function.

Summary: This literature review focuses on adapted physical exercise in the management of cancer patients, aiming to raise awareness among medical staff about its importance. The benefits of exercise are summarized from physiological, pathophysiological, and cellular perspectives, as well as the interactions between individuals and their environment. Integration of exercise dimensions with oncological treatments in multidisciplinary supportive care is considered a new paradigm to improve patient survival and quality of life. This emerging field of exercise oncology aims to understand the biological mechanisms by which aerobic exercise affects cancer incidence, progression, and metastases. The article provides an overview of current physical exercise interventions in cancer patient management, as well as discussing potential clinical applications and the importance of personalized, integrated, patient-centered, and multidisciplinary approaches.
