Summary: This paper introduces oblique predictive clustering trees to address the limitations of standard predictive clustering trees in high-dimensional output spaces and sparse data. By designing and implementing methods for learning oblique splits, the resulting oblique trees are capable of efficiently handling high-dimensional data and exploiting sparse data.

Summary: This paper proposes a Z-number-valued rule-based decision tree (ZRDT) and provides the learning algorithm. Compared with other classical decision trees, ZRDT performs better in terms of classification accuracy and decision tree size. ZRDT uses information gain to select features in each rule instead of fuzzy confidence, and generates a second fuzzy number with negative samples to improve the model's fit to the training data. Based on statistical tests, ZRDT achieves the highest classification performance with the smallest size for the produced decision tree.

Summary: This study examines decision trees with hypotheses and compares their extracted decision rules with those from conventional decision trees, finding that decision rules derived from decision trees with hypotheses are often superior.

Summary: Semi-supervised learning combines supervised and unsupervised learning to learn predictive models from labeled and unlabeled data. Oblique predictive clustering trees use linear combinations of features for more flexible splits. The proposed semi-supervised oblique predictive clustering trees method scales linearly with the number of features while remaining efficient, outperforming other methods in various settings.

Summary: The triage heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature had limited value in diagnosing influenza in children aged 5 years and under. Fever, cough, and/or rhinitis symptoms had a better diagnostic performance than the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention influenza-like illness criteria in predicting influenza in this age group.

Summary: Competition among cacao trees was found to gradually start affecting growth in the early years of production, with a significant impact by the 4th year, followed by yields 2 years later. The main effects were found to be genetic and spatial, with competition potentially affecting up to 10% of the annual production variability in years of strong competition.

Summary: This article introduces a hybrid technique that combines decision trees and rule-based expert systems to provide more accurate predictions of type 2 diabetes mellitus within seven and a half years in the future. The technique combines knowledge from real data and expert experience to generate a mixed rule-based expert system. By comparing it with other two methods, the accuracy of the predictions of the mixed system is much better.

Summary: In this research, decision trees incorporating standard queries and hypotheses composed of all features' values are examined. The efficiency of various forms of optimal decision trees and decision trees built by dynamic programming and an entropy-based greedy method are compared. It is found that the greedy algorithm produces similar results to dynamic programming algorithms, making it a readily applicable choice due to its shorter processing time.

Summary: Child marriage is associated with negative outcomes for women and girls. Despite raising the legal age of marriage in many countries, early marriage remains prevalent. The study shows that many countries are not effectively enforcing their laws and enforcement has not improved over time. Survey data suggests that legal changes need better enforcement and monitoring to be effective.

Summary: This study proposes an approach called OptExplain, which extracts global explanations of ensemble trees using logical reasoning, sampling, and nature-inspired optimization. They also introduce ProClass, a method that further simplifies the explanation by solving the MAX-SAT problem. Experimental results show that their approach provides high-quality explanations to large ensemble tree models and outperforms recent top-performers.

Summary: This experience sampling study investigated the relationship between autonomy-supportive and psychologically controlling interactions with parents and adolescents' momentary affect. Results revealed that autonomy-supportive interactions were associated with higher positive affect, while psychologically controlling interactions were linked to higher negative affect in adolescents.

Summary: This study found that older age at marriage was associated with increased participation of married adolescent girls in economic and health-care decisions, but not with greater satisfaction with control over these decisions. Marrying at a very young age places girls in even more disadvantaged positions regarding decision-making.

Summary: Validated prognostic tools for pediatric community-acquired pneumonia are lacking, leading clinicians to rely on gestalt in management decisions. A study found that clinician gestalt has only fair ability to predict severe outcomes in children with CAP, performing best at very low or higher predicted risk thresholds. Evidence-based prognostic tools are likely to improve upon clinician gestalt, especially in cases with low to moderate risk.

Summary: This study evaluated the predictive value of HRV metrics for adolescent concussion outcomes, finding that subacute HRV metrics significantly predicted decreased neurobehavioral function and cognitive performance in post-acute evaluations. This suggests that subacute HRV metrics may serve as a viable predictive biomarker for identifying underlying neurological dysfunction following concussion and predicting late cognitive outcomes.
