Summary: This paper presents an AI framework for personalized case-based ophthalmology residency training, using a deep learning model and an expert-system-powered case allocation algorithm. The deep learning model can classify retinal diseases from color fundus photographs and the diagnosis is passed to the case allocation algorithm to select the most suitable resident. This approach provides a structure for future precision medical education in ophthalmology.

Summary: This scoping review identified 29 studies covering 6 topics related to educational interventions in neurosurgery residency programs. While several educational interventions were supported by quantitative evidence, methodological shortcomings were common in the selection of meaningful outcome measures. Evidence-based considerations were provided for program directors in both current and future training programs.

Summary: The BBFM model identifies specific pathways by which family relationships impact disease activity through psychobiological mechanisms. It can be applied across cultural contexts and has been used in studies on child and adult health outcomes. The model has also been effective in guiding training and clinical practice in family medicine and child and adolescent psychiatry programs.

Summary: Over the last 12 years, there has been a steady increase in the number of surgical cases performed by general surgery residents, despite the rise in subspecialty training programs. Further research is needed to explore the diversity of operative procedures and their outcomes in the coming years.

Summary: Assessing trainees' surgical proficiency is important in urological surgical training. The current standard, Urology Milestone Project, has limitations and lacks real-time operative feedback. There are multiple competency-based surgical assessment tools available, and a comprehensive review of the literature is needed to analyze their strengths and weaknesses for further development of a standardized assessment tool in urology training.

Summary: The study found that residents displayed cyclical variation in generating FNs over a 2-year period, with some key topics not captured. In addition, reflection on certain domains (such as care of First Nations, vulnerable populations, and behavioral medicine) was less frequent. Four themes were identified from residents' narrative notes, including patient-centered care, patient safety, achieving balance, and confidence.

Summary: Interruption of clinical training for 2 or more years of research is associated with stagnation in performance on annual in-training examinations assessing both knowledge and judgment, followed by eventual catching-up after at least 2 years return to full-time clinical training. These findings may have implications for residency program curriculum design.

Summary: This study conducted a scoping review of educational supervision practices in internal medicine, finding a lack of empirical studies on how educational supervision is conducted and its effect on residents' learning. The study also highlights the confusion in terminology and the weak theoretical foundation.

Summary: The study described the initial implementation of the SIMPL app in pediatric urology rotation, the first among urology residencies, and provided preliminary data on its adoption by residents and faculty. Results showed that the application improved both frequency and quality of resident operative feedback, with positive feedback from both faculty and residents, indicating it was preferred over existing feedback systems.

Summary: The study revealed that almost all colorectal surgery residency programs have integrated robotic surgery into their training, with trainees actively participating in robotic surgery. Most programs have a formal robotics curriculum, and the use of robotic surgery in colorectal surgery is expanding.

Summary: This study aims to identify potential barriers to conducting and publishing pharmacy residency research. The findings indicate that pharmacy residents face challenges in conducting research during their residency program due to limited allocated time, unrealistic timelines, and data collection limitations. They also encounter barriers in publishing their research, including lack of experience, mentorship, and insufficient time.

Summary: The study identified 25 dedicated HIV pathways within Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residency programs in the US, producing a total of 228 graduates since 2006, 39% of whom provide primary care to persons with HIV. However, these pathways are generally not located in or graduates do not practice in the geographic areas of highest need.

Summary: Residents generally have positive attitudes towards the role of spirituality and religion in patient care, but lack the knowledge and skills to address these issues effectively. Better spiritual well-being is associated with greater work accomplishment, self-rated health, decreased burnout, and depressive symptoms. The format of SR-related curricula varies, from standalone workshops to continuous modules across training years.
