Summary: Research on the social displacement hypothesis, examining when and how smartphone communication affects face-to-face interactions and emotional well-being, revealed that while within-persons tend to have less face-to-face interactions on days with increased smartphone communication, there is no significant difference between-persons who engage in heavy smartphone use and those who do not. Additionally, a mindfulness intervention was effective in reducing daily smartphone communication and decreasing negative emotions.

Summary: Metachronous colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis occurs in up to 23% of patients who have undergone curative-intent treatment, often within 2 years of initial treatment. Diagnosis relies on posttreatment surveillance strategies. Care for patients with metachronous CRC metastasis is complex and requires careful multidisciplinary consideration. Those with isolated and technically resectable diseases are recommended to undergo metastasectomy with adjunct chemotherapy, but survival, even after curative-intent resection, is poor.

Summary: This study found that positivity for any autoantibody, high titer of antinuclear antibody, positivity for anti-ARS antibody, and male sex were independent risk factors for malignancies in patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIPs). Testing autoantibodies in IIP patients might assist in the early diagnosis of malignancies.

Summary: Psychological research on morality relies on clear definitions, and this article proposes a technical, psychological, empirical, and distinctive definition. It suggests that clear definitions can improve communication across paradigms, differentiate definitional from empirical disagreements, and advance the field of moral psychology.

Summary: In 1983, Benjamin Libet and colleagues published a paper that challenged the idea that conscious intention to move comes before the brain's preparation for movement. This experiment sparked debates about intention, the neurophysiology of movement, and philosophical and legal notions of free will and moral responsibility. This review explores the concept of conscious intention and efforts to measure its timing. The Bereitschaftspotential, scalp electroencephalographic activity before movement, starts before the reported onset of conscious intent, but its interpretation remains controversial. Studies suggest that the Libet method for determining intent, W time, is not accurate and may lead to misleading results. It is concluded that intention has various aspects and despite a better understanding of how the brain generates movements, determining the time of conscious intention remains a challenge.

Summary: The popularity of screen golf and baseball activities in Korean urban society has been analyzed using a technology acceptance model. The findings show that the perceived usefulness is the most important variable leading to participation in virtual reality sports. Therefore, the successful popularization of virtual reality sports requires the development of practical applications.

Summary: Integration of paradoxes has been recognized as sources of synergy and competitive advantage. Paradoxes may promote innovation when navigated properly, but pragmatic paradoxes tend to create paralyzing catch-22 situations. We explore the conditions in which pragmatic paradoxes become invasive in organizations, identify their main characteristics and symptoms, and recommend potential approaches to their eradication.

Summary: Four experiments were conducted to investigate adaptation to a regional grammatical structure through reading exposure. The results showed that participants exposed to the regional constructions gradually adapted and read the novel constructions faster over time. However, the experiments also revealed that participants failed to learn the specific syntactic constructions tested. It suggests that the adaptation effects reflect learning general properties of the experimental stimuli rather than the syntactic constructions themselves.

Summary: Phenotypic plasticity, the ability of organisms to produce multiple phenotypes in response to environmental changes, is a central aspect of animal adaptability. While DNA methylation is influenced by environmental cues, the exact relationship between cytosine methylation and gene expression remains unclear. More research is needed to understand the mechanisms underlying these processes.
