Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the surgical excision of penile epidermoid cysts in 21 boys. The results showed that acquired penile epidermoid cysts may occur as early or late complications after penile surgery. Complete excision with existing scar seems to be an effective solution for preventing new scars.

Summary: Painless solid testicular masses on ultrasonography are commonly malignant, but if the lesion is well demarcated, rounded, hypoechoic, and without internal vascular flow, it may be an epidermoid cyst. Epidermoid cysts are uncommon benign testicular lesions and if correctly diagnosed, testis-sparing surgery can be performed.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of 22 patients with ECs and DCs in the head and neck region. Most patients underwent complete surgical excision as the definitive treatment method, with post-operative complications being relatively low. Lesions were mainly distributed in the orbital and auricular regions, presenting an interesting diagnostic and therapeutic challenge in the management of ECs and DCs in the head and neck.

Summary: PSMA PET/CT is commonly used for detecting prostate cancer, but can also show increased uptake in other benign and malignant tissues. This case highlights the importance of considering non-PC-related causes of elevated PSMA-ligand uptake.

Summary: This study evaluated the response of incidentally discovered pituitary cysts to growth hormone (GH) treatment in 109 children, and found no evidence of growth in pituitary cysts in response to GH therapy. Among patients who received GH treatment, half showed a trend of decreasing cyst size in follow-up MRI scans.

Summary: This study is the first to report an increased prevalence of coexisting PC and RCC, possibly due to an embryologic link or other propensity for intracranial cyst formation. Additional studies in more generalizable populations can further explore the relation between RCC and PC, or other cyst formation.

Summary: This study compared PMMRI and ANMRI findings in fetal autopsies, showing good congruence between the two imaging modalities for evaluating the macroscopic structures of the posterior fossa. PMMRI demonstrated significant enlargement of posterior fossa structures compared to ANMRI, along with smaller CSF-filled spaces, indicating its usefulness in assessing fetal brain abnormalities.

Summary: The involvement of the petrous apex (PA) in various pathological conditions, some of which are specific to children, can make diagnosis challenging due to vague clinical presentation and difficult local examination. Cross-sectional imaging plays a crucial role in evaluating PA lesions, given their precarious location and proximity to important neurovascular structures. Different classification systems have been proposed based on site of origin, appearance, treatment approach, and nature of the lesions. This article highlights the unique role of various cross-sectional imaging modalities in diagnosing pediatric PA lesions, with emphasis on recognizing normal variants that may mimic pathology. It also proposes a radiological classification and algorithmic approach to aid in accurate diagnosis and appropriate management of different PA lesions in children.

Summary: Adult genetic leukoencephalopathies are rare neurological disorders that can be easily misdiagnosed as more common white matter diseases, such as multiple sclerosis (MS). The White Matter Rounds (WM Rounds) is a collaborative multidisciplinary network that holds online meetings to discuss atypical white matter disorders. The network has proven to be valuable in differentiating and preventing misdiagnoses between genetic white matter diseases and atypical MS.
