Summary: Proximal pulmonary artery masses are rare and challenging for clinicians in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Contrast echocardiography shows good sensitivity and specificity in differentiating thrombi from pulmonary artery sarcomas, with the majority of proximal pulmonary artery masses being thrombi or sarcomas.

Summary: DiGeorge syndrome has heterogeneous clinical presentation and is challenging to diagnose. Echocardiography is crucial for clinical diagnosis, especially for patients with congenital heart diseases. Specific malformations like crossed pulmonary arteries can be associated with 22q11 syndrome. Genetic analysis for 22q11.2 microdeletion should be conducted in patients with malposition of the pulmonary arteries.

Summary: The GPR18 receptor protein, found in the heart and vasculature, plays a functional role in the cardiovascular system. New GPR18 agonists, PSB-MZ-1415 and PSB-MZ-1440, were shown to relax human pulmonary arteries, while the GPR18 antagonist PSB-CB-27 inhibited this effect. The activity of GPR18 appeared to be lower in male patients, smokers, and patients with hypercholesterolemia, potentially making it a new target for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Summary: The study aimed to describe the characteristics of patients with disconnected pulmonary artery (PA) and determine the incidence, delay, and predictive factors of reintervention for reconnected PA stenosis. The results showed that over 50% of patients required reintervention after surgical repair. Therefore, efforts should be made to seek technical improvements and reduce the occurrence of this complication.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between arterial blood gas parameters, inflammatory markers, and coagulation indicators with pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) values in patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). The results showed that arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) and procalcitonin were strongly correlated with PASP values in active PTB patients. The degree of hypoxia and severity of secondary respiratory bacterial infection may influence PASP value in active PTB.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the morphology and associated cardiovascular anomalies in patients with crossed pulmonary arteries. Various cardiovascular anomalies, including aortic arch anomalies and outflow tract malformations, were found to be associated with crossed pulmonary arteries. Comprehensive CT angiography-based evaluation is crucial for presurgical planning in the presence of crossed pulmonary arteries.

Summary: In this study, a targeted co-delivery system was developed to alleviate pulmonary hypertension (PH) by inhibiting pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell (PASMC) proliferation and promoting apoptosis. The system effectively targeted PASMCs and regressed pulmonary artery remodeling, leading to improved hemodynamics and decreased pulmonary arterial pressure.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the late outcomes of peripheral pulmonary artery reconstruction in 91 patients. The results showed excellent and durable late outcomes, with significant reductions in right ventricular to aortic systolic pressure ratio and low mortality rates. No reinterventions were necessary.

Summary: Pulmonary hypertension worsens prognosis in left heart disease. Increased stiffness of the pulmonary artery may contribute to this by causing right ventricular dysfunction and lung vascular remodeling. Targeting extracellular matrix remodeling may be a therapeutic approach for pulmonary hypertension in left heart disease.

Summary: A five-month-old European shorthair female kitten was referred due to recurrent respiratory distress and was diagnosed with severe precapillary pulmonary hypertension and interstitial pneumonia associated with right-sided cardiac remodeling. The cat quickly died from respiratory insufficiency. Pathological findings revealed left pulmonary artery coarctation, severe right-sided cardiac hypertrophy, and bilateral pneumonia, making this the first reported case of pulmonary artery coarctation associated with pneumonia and PH in a cat.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate whether heart rate reserve (HRR) during dipyridamole stress echocardiography (SE) predicts outcome in patients with ischemia and normal coronary arteries (INOCA). Among 292 patients, a blunted HRR during SE was found to be a better predictor of outcome than inducible ischemia, independently predicting survival rates.

Summary: This study revealed a high prevalence of PH at diagnosis in West Highland white terriers affected with canine idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, with PV/PA serving as a useful non-invasive surrogate for assessing PH. The presence of moderate/severe PH at initial presentation was not associated with survival outcome.

Summary: Horizontal gaze palsy with progressive scoliosis (HGPPS) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by eye movement abnormalities and spinal curvature, caused by mutations in the ROBO3 gene. Two brothers with HGPPS were reported in this study, with the younger brother showing milder symptoms and no psychomotor retardation.

Summary: This study aimed to report normative values for optic nerve diameter in different age groups using MRI in pediatric populations and determine a cut-off value for the diagnosis of optic glioma in NF1 patients. Orbital MRI scans from children with and without NF1 were reviewed, and optic nerve measurements were obtained by two radiologists. The results showed that optic nerve diameter increased with age in healthy individuals, and NF1 patients with glioma had significantly larger optic nerve diameters compared to controls. The study concluded that quantitative reference values for optic nerve diameter could aid the development of diagnostic criteria for optic nerve gliomas in NF1.

Summary: Autoimmune encephalopathy (AE) is a group of diseases with subacute onset, characterized by diverse clinical manifestations. This study retrospectively evaluated the data of 27 patients diagnosed with AE between 2011 and 2021. The frequency of AE is increasing, and while there are established approaches for seropositive patients, there are still challenges in diagnosing seronegative AE. The study documented the clinical, radiological, and prognostic features of AE patients, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness among pediatricians and differentiating it from other conditions.

Summary: In pediatric radiology, balancing diagnostic accuracy and reduced radiation exposure is crucial. Technological advancements in computed tomography reconstruction techniques and deep learning image reconstruction have enabled significant reductions in radiation doses. Photon-counting detector CT is another beneficial technology. Cloud-based dose tracking software helps monitor radiation exposure and ensure safety standards are followed. However, challenges remain in applying these technologies.
