Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on medical students, and this study aims to assess the burnout, stress, and loneliness levels among US medical students during the initial phase of the pandemic. The findings show that while stress levels are higher compared to pre-pandemic data, burnout levels have significantly decreased. Additionally, certain factors such as being a racial minority, experiencing financial strain, racism, or COVID-19 diagnoses are associated with higher levels of burnout and stress. On the other hand, engaging in volunteer work seems to be a protective factor against burnout. It is crucial for schools to proactively support vulnerable students during times of stress.

Summary: The study evaluated medical student perceptions on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on their training. A total of 1604 participants from 45 countries were surveyed, with 81.4% reporting an overall negative impact on their training. Factors such as younger age, female gender, and decreased traditional teaching methods were associated with a greater likelihood of reporting negative impacts.

Summary: This study provides a narrative synthesis of the knowledge around symptom control at end of life for patients using non-invasive advanced respiratory support. The findings suggest that NARS can provide hope and relief from respiratory failure symptoms, but also bring significant treatment burden. Staff providing care may experience distress due to uncertainty over the balance of benefit and burden, as well as the complexity of patient care. Further research is needed to better understand the process of withdrawal and how to manage symptoms at the end of life.

The deep-time perspective provided by this research empowers nurses and emphasizes the value of archaeology and ethnography in understanding and contextualizing contemporary challenges in palliative and post-mortem care.
