Summary: In this study, most participants expected that assigning centres of expertise for Phenylketonuria would change the structure and delivery of PKU care. Distance was reported as a major barrier, and participants also emphasized the importance of having CE physicians and dieticians with a higher level of knowledge than in non-CE centres. Collaboration with patient associations was also seen as crucial by a majority of participants.

Summary: This study evaluated the current practice of D2 in Europe, showing that tumor histology significantly affects surgeons' choice in lymphadenectomy extent. While almost all cases achieved adequate lymphadenectomy in dedicated centers, there is still variation in the number of retrieved nodes.

Summary: This study presents a new Microscale Walkability Index that measures the pedestrian-friendliness of city centers in Europe. The results show that Barcelona, Bilbao, Oslo, Zurich, and Paris are the most pedestrian-friendly city centers, while Bucharest, Athens, Sofia, Plovdiv, and Palermo rank the lowest. The study also finds that cities with higher GDP per capita, a higher proportion of walking/cycling, and better sustainability performance have higher microscale walkability rankings.

Summary: Optically addressable spin defects in silicon carbide (SiC) are a promising platform for quantum information processing, enabling high-fidelity spin qubit operations. However, degradation of spin-optical coherence after integration in nanophotonic structures poses a challenge for scalability towards large-scale quantum networks.

Summary: The article presents an institutional collaboration recommendation system that can help institutions identify potential collaborators, determine and improve the research portfolio of an institution within a field, and ultimately enhance the institution's performance in that field. The framework is demonstrated through analyzing the performance of 195 Indian institutions in the field of 'Computer Science', and validation shows it has sufficient coverage and can provide novel and diverse recommendations.

Summary: This study argues for a new scientific logic of routine animal health care in industrial farming in Europe and highlights how the social regime underpinning scientific research on chronic animal disease management stifles innovation. Findings show that research on CADM in major sectors of the European food industry is focused on growth, profitability, and control rather than addressing the interconnectedness between chronic animal diseases, the food industry, and people. This study contributes to the literature by drawing attention to chronic animal diseases that are non-transmissible to humans and expanding the conceptualization of One Health to include chronic animal health conditions.

Summary: Graffiti in urban areas takes various forms and materials, ranging from simple spray slogans to wall paintings and art with diverse content. Despite conflicting opinions in literature, studies have shown a positive association between wall-graffiti and fear of crime or streetscape value. However, there is a lack of comparative urban studies on graffiti locations, which hinders the benchmarking of urban liveability. This study investigated the spatial patterns of graffiti-vandalism in 30 European city centres using Google Street View-derived observations, revealing significant variations across Europe and highlighting the presence of socio-spatial inequities.

Summary: Researchers have generated a conditional Dhcr7 knockout mouse model with liver-specific deletion, which demonstrated minimal impact on sterol metabolism in the liver. This model provides a valuable tool for further exploration of the pathophysiology of SLOS through temporal, cell and tissue-specific loss of DHCR7.

Summary: This study collected retrospectively records of leishmaniasis cases diagnosed in 15 centers between 2014 and 2019, and analyzed data on country of infection, reason for traveling, infecting species, age, and sex. The results showed that visceral leishmaniasis was mainly acquired in Europe, while cutaneous leishmaniasis was primarily imported from outside Europe. The geographic species distribution largely confirmed known epidemiology, with some exceptions. The study highlights the importance of pooling species typing data from multiple centers to monitor changing epidemiology.

Summary: The European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry (EJMC) has been widely recognized and studied by researchers in the field. A bibliometric analysis was conducted to assess the scientific output and current status of EJMC from 1987 to 2022. The analysis identified the countries, institutions, authors, and literature with the highest impact, and used visualization networks to present the findings. The keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed a shift from phenotypic drug discovery to target-based drug discovery, and provided insights for researchers to define their research topics and directions. The focus of research in EJMC has shifted towards antitumor and oxidative stress-related drugs, with future studies focusing on tumor multidrug resistance, oxidative stress, and dual inhibitors.

Summary: This article discusses a staff allocation problem at a sequential sorting facility and proposes a new time-expanded network flow model to solve it. The model addresses multiple objectives and operational requirements through a lexicographical approach. By applying the model to a UK mail centre case, its effectiveness is validated, and its performance in different scenarios is demonstrated.

Summary: The study surveyed existing transfer and transition programmes in European ACHD centres and found that nearly half of the centres offered a formal transition programme, while almost all centres had structured transfer from paediatric to ACHD care. However, most programs lacked an age and development-based approach despite some improvements since 2009.
