Summary: The use of macrocyclic Cr-III bis-alkynyl complexes as precursors for the synthesis of monoalkynyl complexes has been explored, leading towards the formation of dissymmetric bis-alkynyl complexes. The C-substituted cyclam MPC has shown a preference for the trans isomer upon Cr insertion, facilitating the production of dissymmetric bis-alkynyl complexes in significant quantity. The structural and optical properties of the synthesized complexes are similar to previous Cr-III bis-alkynyl complexes.

Summary: We report a family of polynuclear complexes with Au-centered Ag4 and Cu4 tetrahedral cores. The structures of the Au@M4 clusters were experimentally determined, revealing very weak intermolecular Au-M metallophilic interactions. These compounds exhibit modest luminescence lifetimes at ambient temperature, with emission type depending on the composition of the cluster core.

Summary: This study describes the synthesis and characterization of macrocyclic Cr-III mono-alkynyl complexes, which were obtained in high yields through chemical reactions. The single crystal X-ray diffraction confirmed the desired structure of these complexes. These complexes exhibit different characteristics in absorption and emission spectra compared to bis-alkynyl complexes.

Summary: We have discovered that neutral six-membered arene rings can coordinate to form well-defined organotransition metal nanoclusters. By using [2.2]paracyclophane as the face-capping arene ligand, we obtained two polyarene palladium nanoclusters with different ligand shells and cores, both exhibiting Pd-Pd direct bonding. The mu(4)-facial coordination mode of arene was discovered through structural characterization of the Pd(13) cluster. The unique Pd-13 and Pd-17 cores are explained by stereochemical and theoretical analyses.

Summary: The mononuclear cobalt hydride complex [HCo(triphos)(PMe3)] was synthesized and characterized. Protonation of [HCo(triphos)(PMe3)] generated H2 and the Co(I) cation, [Co(triphos)(PMe3)]+. Density Functional Theory calculations were performed to evaluate the structures and hydricities of a series of analogous cobalt(triphosphine)(monophosphine) hydrides.

Summary: Two thiacalix[4]arene-protected silver(I) alkynyl nanoclusters, Ag-9 and Ag-18, were synthesized and characterized. The structural unit of these nanoclusters migrated in different modes under the influence of different coordination ions, resulting in different Ag.Ag distances. Both nanoclusters exhibited good solution stability and their fluorescence responses were influenced by the polarity of the solvent.

Summary: Multifunctional switches are crucial for the development of smart molecular materials and molecular-electronic applications. The synthesis, structure, and characterization of spiropyrans functionalized with alkynyl-[Ru(dppe)(2)] groups are described. The study demonstrates access to several stable redox states using electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical methods, as well as via acidochromism and photoisomerisation. The spiropyran also exhibits effective insulation properties for electronic communication across the molecular backbone.

Summary: Two dinuclear copper(I) iodide complexes based on a new iminephosphine tetradentate chelating ligand have been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structures of the complexes show distorted tetrahedron configurations around Cu(I) centers. These complexes exhibit bright orange-red and yellow emissions at 298 K, with excellent photo-luminescent quantum yields and short lifetimes. Reversible mechanochromic luminescent (MCL) properties of complex 2 have been confirmed by monitoring changes in emission spectra and X-ray diffraction patterns, with the unique pore structure considered to be the origin of its MCL properties.

Summary: Cluster-assembled materials (CAMs) exhibit delicate structures with tailored properties, strongly dependent on the structure and coordination state of cluster building blocks. CAMs often display well-organized structures at the subnanometer scale, with application potentials lying in the cluster arrangements and interactions at this level.

Summary: A series of luminescent chloro- and alkynyl-platinum (II) complexes with tridentate cyclometalated ligands have been synthesized and characterized, with their electrochemical and luminescent properties investigated. The electron-withdrawing groups on the alkynyl ligands can induce a red shift in the emission band. This study provides insights into the structure-property relationship of these complexes in terms of their luminescence.

Summary: The electronic structure, absorption properties, phosphorescence quantum efficiency and emission spectra of a series of iridium (III) complexes containing phenyltriazole-type cyclometallated ligands were studied using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) methods. The results showed that the theoretical calculations can accurately predict the electronic and photophysical properties of the complexes and can be used to guide the synthesis of new phosphorescent materials.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized copper nanoclusters with high photoluminescence efficiency and discovered that the addition of hexane can further enhance the luminescence efficiency. Experiments and theoretical calculations suggested that the improved luminescence performance is due to reduced nonradiative transition, a larger d orbital contribution of copper ions, enhanced transition dipole moment, and reduced energy gap.

Summary: The sterically demanding carbene ITr was used as a ligand to prepare luminescent copper(I) complexes with a series of pyridine and quinoline derivatives forming linear, bis(coordinated) complexes. These complexes exhibit weak emission in solution, but intense blue to orange luminescence in PMMA films doped with 10%, showcasing triplet excited states or TADF with high radiative rate constants at room temperature.Density functional theory and multireference configuration interaction calculations were performed to explain the photophysics of these complexes, revealing a high density of low-lying electronic states with mixed MLCT, LLCT, and LC character.

Summary: Selective cleavage of C-C bonds in lignin at ambient temperature was achieved using a HAT-DSPEC system, which combines a dye-sensitized photoelectrochemical cell with a hydrogen atom transfer mediator under redox-neutral conditions. The system demonstrated excellent efficiency and selectivity in the cleavage of the C(aryl)-C(alkyl) bond under solar irradiation.
