Summary: Three low band gap copolymers with different alkyl side chains were synthesized and their thermal stability was found to be highly dependent on the lengths of the side chains. The optimization of side chains in P2 led to higher thermal stability compared to P3 and P1. The results highlight the importance of alkyl side chain optimization for the stability of copolymers.

Summary: The study presents reactions of the dilithioallene precursor Li-2(Me3SiC3SiMe3) with Cp2HfCl2, leading to the formation of either a highly sensitive dinuclear allenediide bridged hafnocene dichloride complex (2-Hf) or a chemically robust dihafriacyclooctatetraene (3-Hf) depending on the stoichiometric ratio. Both complexes were fully characterized and their formation was analyzed through in situ NMR spectroscopy with the involvement of a structurally elusive metallocene intermediate containing lithium.

Summary: This study investigates the products formed in reactions between zirconocene or hafnocene dichlorides with alkylaluminum activators. The results reveal that sterically open compounds generate similar reaction products, while sterically crowded compounds do not react.

Summary: This study reports the reaction pathway and product of sequential reaction of lithiated methoxyallene, methyl isothiocyanate, and 2-(bromomethyl)-1,3-dioxolane in the presence of CuBr, yielding a 2,3-disubstituted thiophene. Despite varying reaction conditions, the only product obtained is N-(1,3-dioxolan-2-ylmethyl)-3-methoxy-N-methylthiophen-2-amine.

Summary: The electronic structures and photophysical properties of organic dyes based on triphenylamine units, pyrrole/thiophene, and alkyl thiobarbituric acid were studied for their potential use as photosensitizers in DSSCs. The performance of N-ethyl derivatives TPAA3 and TPAB3 was superior to other dyes, with higher anchoring ability than cyanoacrylic dyes.

Summary: In this study, the successful synthesis and characterization of the first persistent, formally 19-e Mo radical was achieved through photodissociation reaction, with the stabilization of the radical attributed to the unique electron-withdrawing effect of the o-carboranyl substituent at the phosphorus center.

Summary: Metal-ligand cooperation is crucial in earth-abundant metal catalysis, with ligands acting as electron reservoirs to enhance redox chemistry. Iron BDI complexes were found to exhibit a wide range of oxidation states, with structural characterization revealing the redox noninnocence of the BDI ligand. Spectroscopic and computational studies further elucidated the electronic structure of the isolated complexes.

Summary: In this study, the performance metrics of a series of synthesized or commercially available inexpensive phthalocyanine metal (PcM) charge carriers were compared. It was found that most metal phthalocyanine complexes are suitable for slurry-based PcM/KB RFB applications. Among these, PcCu showed the highest efficiencies, energy density, stability, and lowest cost.

Summary: We report a facile and efficient method for the synthesis of common electrophilic haloboranes through a protonolysis reaction between Piers' borane, HB(C6F5)(2), and H-X (X=Cl, Br). This route offers fast reaction times, easy setup, and minimal workup, yielding analytically pure etherates, (C6F5)(2)BCl(OEt2) (1) and (C6F5)(2)BBr(OEt2) (2), as well as ether-free tri-coordinate species, (C6F5)(2)BBr (3).

Summary: The storage of renewable energy in ammonia (NH3) is considered as a viable alternative to hydrogen (H2) in the transition from fossil fuels. Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are the leading technology for direct ammonia fuel cells (DAFCs), but their high temperature operation is not suitable for light-duty vehicles. Aqueous-fed DAFCs have gained interest, but there is a lack of reported molecular catalysts to address challenges in reaction selectivity, catalyst loading, and stability. This study presents the use of a known complex, [Ru(bipyridinedicarboxylate)(4-methylpyridine)(2)] (RuBda, 1), to efficiently electrocatalyze the oxidation of aqueous NH3 to N2, with high faradaic efficiencies (>80%), unprecedented rates, and high turnover. Kinetic analyses suggest a unimolecular mechanism, making this catalyst highly applicable for commercially viable fuel cells.

Summary: We present the heterogenization of molecular compounds, ortho-substituted carboranes (Cb-PO, Cb-PO-Pyr), for selective metal capture via electrochemical switching. Films of Cb-PO and Cb-PO-Pyr on glassy carbon and carbon fiber electrodes exhibited heterogeneous electrochemical behavior, which was enhanced by the incorporation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Galvanostatically charged CF|CNT|Cb-PO and CF|CNT|Cb-PO-Pyr electrodes selectively captured and released actinide metal ions (Th4+, UO22+) from mixed solutions containing alkali (Cs+), lanthanide (Nd3+, Sm3+), and actinide (Th4+, UO22+) metal ions.

Summary: The paper discusses the facile activation of aryl E-H or ammonia N-H bonds via coordination-induced bond weakening to a redox-active boron center in the complex. Significant decreases in E-H bond dissociation free energies were observed upon substrate coordination, enabling subsequent proton-coupled electron transfer. Experimental results showed a drop of over 50 kcal mol(-1) in H2N-H bond dissociation free energy upon coordination.
