Complexation of (5H)-Dibenzola[a,d]cyclohepten-5-ylidene to Palladium (II) via the Diazo Route and Evidence of C-H•••Pd Interactions

The reaction of 5-diazo-(5H)-dibenzo [a,d] cycloheptene with a palludium (II) precursor afforded the monomuclear carbocyclic carbene complex in high yield under mild conditions. Characterization of this complex using crystalographic and spectroscopic techniques unexpectedly revealed an almost planar carbocyclic ring system and rare intramolecular preagostic or anagostic C-H center dot center dot center dot Pd interactions.
