Reactions of Me2Zn with carbodiimides C(NR)(2) in different molar ratios at elevated temperature were investigated, a possible reaction mechanism was identified, and the single-crystal X-ray structures of polynuclear amidinate zinc complexes {C[C(NCy)(2)ZnMe](4)}, 1, {C[C(NCy)(2)ZnMe](3)(-)(ZnMe)}, 3, and {C[C(NCy)(2)ZnMe](3)(ZnMe)(MeZnOMe)}, 5, are reported.
