Summary: Acute pancreatitis is a dangerous inflammatory disease of the pancreas with a high mortality rate. It is primarily caused by gallstone migration and alcohol abuse. The activation of trypsinogen, infiltration of inflammatory cells, and destruction of secretory cells are the main characteristics of this disease. However, there are controversies and uncertainties regarding the diagnostic and therapeutic methods due to incomplete understanding of its pathophysiology.

Summary: Organoids are small 3D models of organs that aid in studying their function and diseases. Kidney organoids have the potential to treat chronic kidney disease, which affects over 800 million individuals. However, creating fully functional kidney organoids is difficult due to immaturity and the absence of blood vessels and tissue organization.

Summary: In recent years, rapid advances in biodiesel technologies have led to a glycerol glut in the market, resulting in a significant drop in its price. The development of glycerol valorization techniques, particularly the photocatalytic process, has attracted considerable attention for its potential to integrate solar energy with glycerol conversion at ambient conditions. Through analysis of glycerol photoreforming and photo-oxidation mechanisms, as well as evaluation of empirical models and synthesis parameters, researchers aim to address both challenges and opportunities in this forefront technology.

Summary: Gender differences were found in optical biometry measurements and lens power calculations. Modern IOL formulas showed significantly different prediction errors for males and females, with males tending to be more hyperopic and females more myopic. Optimization of lens constants by gender can reduce refraction prediction errors for certain modern IOL formulas.
