An asymmetric catalytic synthesis of optically active spiroacetals from alkynyl glycols has been well established by using gold complex/Bronsted acid binary system in relay manner. A wide range of spiroacetals were obtained in good yields and with high enantioselectivities. (C) 2015 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
