Summary: This study aimed to compare the histopathological response of dental pulp after direct pulp capping using two different materials, exogenous nitric oxide (NOC-18) and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA), in dogs' teeth. The results showed that the active status of the odontoblasts layer was significantly higher in the NOC-18 group compared to the MTA group after one month. However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of dentine bridge formation after three months.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the dental pulp responses to rhEPO and/or MTA in pulp capping of inflamed dental pulp in vivo. Pulp capping with rhEPO or MTA + rhEPO resulted in lower inflammation and higher mineralization scores compared to untreated control. Capping with rhEPO or MTA + rhEPO resulted in a favorable effect that was similar or even superior to that of MTA.

Symptomatology, root apex development, and type of biomaterial are significant predictors for treatment success. This meta-analysis is the first study to evaluate the clinical outcome of pulpotomy for carious teeth with irreversible pulpitis, identifying the stage of root development and type of biomaterial as predictors for treatment success.

The results showed that the PCLMTA membrane exhibited better cell adhesion, spreading, and migration.

Summary: In this study, a comprehensive single-cell atlas of carious human teeth was generated using single-cell RNA sequencing analysis and immunostaining. The study found modifications in various cell clusters within the carious dental pulp, including immune cells, mesenchymal stem cells, and fibroblasts. These modifications led to an increase in extracellular matrix components and myofibroblast enrichment. The study also revealed molecular, cellular, and biomechanical alterations in the carious dental pulp, indicative of extensive extracellular matrix remodeling.

Summary: This study analyzed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the rates of periodontal procedures in the Brazilian Public Health System. It found a significant reduction in the number of periodontal procedures during the pandemic, although the reduction was not as great as that of medical and general dental procedures. Medical procedures experienced the sharpest drop in procedures.

Summary: This study evaluated the properties of adhesive resins modified with different antioxidants as polymerization inhibitors. The results showed that adhesives modified with BHT and AA had lower degree of conversion, while the presence of QC resulted in color changes and higher yellowing index. The addition of GA reduced the cohesive strength of the materials. However, all adhesives demonstrated similar cell viability and translucency compared to the control. The use of alternative antioxidants showed potential for the development of dental adhesive resins without significant impairment of their properties.

Summary: This study examined the effect of unreacted substances of four universal adhesives on cell viability, taking into account different sample preparation protocols. It was found that disc-shaped specimens made with the adhesive material itself led to an overestimation of cell viability outcomes for the universal adhesives. CQ was identified as the most cytotoxic component among the analyzed substances.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the mental health of a University community in South Brazil during the COVID-19 pandemic. A web-based survey was conducted through a self-administered questionnaire, and the prevalence of depression and anxiety was found to be alarmingly high. Social distancing, mental health care, and previous mental illness diagnosis were associated with both outcomes. Students and individuals with a previous diagnosis of mental illness require special attention and surveillance.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of incorporating halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) loaded with calcium hydroxide (CaOH2) or beta-tricalcium phosphate (beta-TCP) on the physicochemical and biological properties of an experimental resin-based dual-cured endodontic sealer. The results showed that the experimental sealers containing HNT_CaOH2 or HNT_beta-TCP exhibited antimicrobial effects and gradual release of calcium ions, without compromising the cytocompatibility or physicochemical properties of the sealers.

Summary: This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity and physicochemical properties of a new dual-cure endodontic sealer containing copaiba oil. Copaiba oil was characterized by gas chromatography and its minimum inhibitory concentration was determined. The antimicrobial activity of the sealers was evaluated by direct contact test, while the physicochemical properties were assessed through various tests. The sealers containing copaiba oil showed antimicrobial activity without compromising their physicochemical properties.
