Summary: Elective para-aortic (PA) nodal irradiation using modern treatment techniques for node positive cervical cancer patients showed comparable survival outcomes with pelvic field irradiation, with possibly slightly higher rates of non-severe toxicities. Prospective randomized trials are needed to fully evaluate the benefits of elective PA nodal coverage, as retrospective data may be limited by higher risk features in the study population.

Summary: This study aimed to examine whether the inclusion of the posterolateral supraclavicular node (SCL) region to the standard medial SCL target volume improves SCL control and survival outcomes in high-risk node-positive breast cancer patients. Retrospective analysis of 544 patients treated with post-operative radiation therapy was conducted, and the results showed that irradiating the posterolateral SCL region did not significantly improve SCL control and survival outcomes.

Summary: Regional lymph node radiation therapy, including definitive nodal radiotherapy and adjuvant nodal radiotherapy, has been shown to improve regional recurrence-free survival, distant recurrence-free survival, disease-free survival, and disease-specific survival in patients with Merkel cell carcinoma. Adjuvant nodal radiotherapy is particularly beneficial for high-risk subgroups and its benefit increases with higher disease burden. These results support a more liberal use of nodal RT for MCC patients with node-positive disease.

Summary: This study analyzed the pattern of relapse in patients with Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) who underwent surgery and postoperative radiotherapy. The results showed that regional recurrence was the most frequent site of relapse, and elective irradiation of the regional lymph nodes reduced the risk of regional relapse even if the sentinel lymph node was negative.

Summary: Ga-68-DOTATATE PET/CT is commonly used for diagnosis, staging, and predicting therapy response of neuroendocrine tumors. We report a case of a 63-year-old woman with a pancreas neuroendocrine tumor showing Ga-68-DOTATATE uptake in a lymph node in the left axilla. After biopsy, it was diagnosed as capillary hemangioma. While the uptake of Ga-68-DOTATATE in bone hemangiomas is well-known, its uptake in nodal hemangioma is worth noting as it could alter the clinical perspective.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different operative approaches (open surgery, VATS, and RATS) on lymphadenectomies and pathologic nodal upstaging for lung cancer. The results showed that VATS was associated with lower rates of nodal upstaging and harvesting >= 10 LNs compared to open surgery, while RATS did not differ significantly from open surgery. VATS also had lower rates of sampling at >= 5 nodal stations, while RATS had higher rates.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to use activity data to identify and triage high-risk patients with GI cancer undergoing concurrent chemoradiation in order to reduce hospitalization. The results showed that using activity data to trigger triage visits increased the number of visits in the intervention group, indicating the feasibility of this approach. However, there was no statistically significant difference in emergency department visits and hospitalizations.
