Summary: The study found that trial electrical round window stimulation can be used as a diagnostic tool to identify successful candidates for cochlear implantation for treatment of tinnitus. All patients who qualified for cochlear implantation based on the trial RWS showed tinnitus suppression with the implant switched on.

Summary: Metabolically healthy obesity or overweight refers to being obese or overweight without any major metabolic disorder or cardiovascular diseases. However, it is recognized as an important risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases. Tirzepatide, a newly developed glucose-lowering agent, has shown potential benefits in reducing the risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes in metabolically healthy obese or overweight patients.

Summary: Transcorneal electrical stimulation (TES) is a non-invasive neuromodulation approach that exerts neuroprotection through various mechanisms and shows potential for treating depression by activating brain regions involved in mood alterations. The shared mechanisms with FDA-approved antidepressant treatments further support the antidepressant effects of TES.

Summary: Mental disorders contribute significantly to the global disease burden, highlighting the need for improved treatments. Scalp stimulation methods have shown promise in relieving psychiatric symptoms, but have not fully integrated neuroimaging findings. By conducting meta-analyses on common mental disorders, this study identified specific brain regions associated with these disorders, providing new potential targets for scalp stimulation interventions. The proposed target protocols based on neuroimaging findings may offer novel approaches for treating mental disorders and enhance their clinical applications.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of low charge nerve stimulation on hypertensive rats and identified optimal stimulation parameters. Low-intensity intermittent electrical stimulation was found to be an effective method for neuromodulation of the aortic baroreceptor afferents, reducing blood pressure and minimizing hemodynamic disturbances.

Summary: This study investigated the neural mechanisms and treatment efficacy of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Functional and structural connectivity profiles were constructed to predict the effectiveness of DBS, with frontothalamic pathways and cortical projections identified as crucial factors for optimal clinical outcome.

Summary: The increasing legalization of cannabis in the United States has led to a rise in cannabis use disorder (CUD) cases, highlighting the need for innovative treatment methods. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) shows promise as a potential therapeutic tool, although its effectiveness for CUD has not been fully evaluated yet.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the effects of microcurrent therapy on acute knee pain, finding that the therapy significantly reduced pain and improved physical function over a 4-week period. Participants using microcurrent therapy showed a significant decrease in pain, especially in the third week, and an increasing trend in the improvement of physical function score.

Summary: This study investigates the use of bio-impedance characterization to monitor colonic motor activity. The results show a significant decrease in bio-impedance during strong colonic contractions in response to electrical stimulation. The dominant frequencies of colonic contractions also increase after the stimulation, and positive correlations are found between bio-impedance and manometry. The bio-impedance-based method offers high spatial and temporal resolution for monitoring colonic motor pattern.

Summary: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has been shown to be effective in alleviating treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder (TROCD) by not only reducing OCD symptoms but also improving comorbid depressive symptoms. Studies utilizing the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) have demonstrated high responder rates to DBS therapy at last follow-up.

Summary: Obesity is highly prevalent in patients with schizophrenia and current interventions have not effectively addressed this issue. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is proposed as a potential intervention for weight loss in schizophrenia patients, based on overlapping brain mechanisms.
