Summary: This study compared placental volume (PV) and vascular indices between pregnant women with and without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) using three-dimensional (3D) Power Doppler ultrasound. Results showed significant differences in PV, vascularization index (VI), flow index (FI), and vascularization flow index (VFI) between the two groups. Combining maternal age, gravida, PV, and VFI may be a more accurate marker for detecting GDM.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the accuracy of three-dimensional ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging in measuring placental volume during pregnancy. The findings revealed a poor to moderate correlation between the two methods, with 3D ultrasound generally measuring smaller placental volumes than MRI. This suggests that 3D ultrasound may not effectively visualize the entire placenta.

Summary: This review presents a wide range of placental and umbilical cord pathologies that affect pregnancy outcomes. These anomalies are associated with high-risk pregnancies and can lead to fetal compromise and poor perinatal outcomes. By analyzing perinatology databases and providing prenatal imaging with autopsy correlation, this manuscript aids in understanding and defining this critical obstetrical and perinatological issue.

Summary: This study evaluated the utility of 4D Power Doppler tissue evaluation in distinguishing between normal ovaries and ovarian cancer tumors, revealing statistical differences in 4D bi-directional Power Doppler vascular indices between malignant tumors and normal ovaries. These findings may support the rationale for future studies exploring the technology's potential to discriminate between malignant and benign tumors.

Summary: This pilot study aimed to evaluate the potential synergistic role of three-dimensional power Doppler angiography ultrasound and the expression of Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) protein in predicting the endometrial receptivity of fresh In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles. The results showed that sub-endometrial parameters measured via power Doppler angiography and the expression of LIF protein concentration were significantly associated with clinical pregnancy, indicating their potential as predictors of endometrial receptivity.

Summary: Chronic inflammatory processes affecting the endometrium can impact endometrial receptivity, leading to early pregnancy losses and recurrent pregnancy losses. Conditions like endometriosis may increase the risk of miscarriages, but assisted reproductive technology can mitigate these risks.

Summary: This study investigates the diagnostic value of Angio Planewave Ultrasensitive Doppler ultrasound in improving the efficacy of grey scale ultrasound in thyroid nodule diagnosis. The results show that the combination of qualitative vascularity assessment with AngioPLUS and power Doppler imaging significantly improves specificity in stratifying thyroid nodules, particularly cytologically-equivocal nodules. The findings suggest that AngioPLUS Doppler ultrasound has a potential to enhance the diagnostic accuracy for thyroid nodules.

Summary: Carbohydrate Lewis antigens and related glycosyltransferases are dysregulated in the decidua of patients with unexplained recurrent miscarriage. The gene FUT3 is responsible for the synthesis of sLeA in the endometrium and affects endometrial receptivity. Targeting the aberrantly elevated sLeA may be a potential therapy for inappropriate implantation in unexplained recurrent miscarriage.

Summary: Color Doppler flow imaging or high-definition flow imaging with three-dimensional volume or spatio-temporal image correlation (STIC) in the glass-body mode can display both gray-scale and color information of the heart cycle-related flow events and vessel spatial relationship. It has been conventionally used to examine the fetal heart and assess heart defects. A recent study reported a novel application of STIC in the visualization of abdominal precordial veins and intraplacental vascularization in singleton pregnancies. This article aims to discuss the use of color Doppler with three- and four-dimensional ultrasonography in evaluating extracardiac, placental, umbilical cord, and twin abnormalities, and provides examples. The glass-body mode is complementary to conventional 2D ultrasonography. Further research is needed to investigate the use of the glass-body mode in assessing intraplacental vascularization in singleton and twin pregnancies.

Summary: This study used three-dimensional choroidal vascularity index (CVI) to describe the topographic variation of macular choroidal angioarchitecture in healthy eyes from an Asian population. The results showed that CVI was not correlated with demographic or ocular structural features, and 2D CVI of the fovea partially represented 3D CVI of the macula.

Summary: In this study, a fetal weight prediction model based on semi-automatic 3D limb volume combined with AC measurement was established with high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. The model formula showed higher predictive efficiency compared to traditional formulas, especially in the diagnosis of macrosomia.

Summary: In this study, we analyzed single-cell RNA sequencing data of recurrent miscarriage patients and healthy controls to identify dysfunctional interactions between trophoblast cells and decidual immune cells. We also observed changes in cellular organization, cell type-specific transcriptome, and cell communication. These findings are crucial for understanding the pathophysiology of recurrent miscarriage.
