Summary: This study evaluated the effect of acupuncture combined with metformin compared to metformin alone on the pregnancy rate of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that acupuncture combined with metformin can significantly improve the pregnancy rate, ovulation rate, and insulin resistance in PCOS.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine if the androgen status modulates the impact of metformin on plasma prolactin levels in women. The results showed that the drug decreased total and monomeric prolactin and increased luteinizing hormone (LH) in control subjects. In women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metformin reduced LH, LH/FSH ratio, testosterone, and free androgen index (FAI).

Summary: The study demonstrated that once-weekly exenatide combined with MET was more effective than MET alone in overweight/obese women with PCOS, leading to weight reduction, improvement in BMI and waist circumference, and enhanced insulin sensitivity, with acceptable short-term side effects.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex disorder that affects fertility due to endocrine and metabolic abnormalities. PCOS women with insulin resistance may experience fertility issues and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Berberine, an alkaloid found in medicinal herbs, has shown promising results in improving fertility and pregnancy outcomes in PCOS women with insulin resistance. Our study aims to investigate the potential of berberine in counteracting the negative effects of insulin resistance and improving fertility and pregnancy outcomes in PCOS women.

Summary: The study found that insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism parameters were comparable between pregnant women with PCOS and controls, while significant differences were observed between overweight/obese and lean mothers. Impaired insulin sensitivity was mainly attributed to overweight rather than PCOS.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the impact of body mass index (BMI) and insulin resistance (IR) levels on first-time assisted conception outcomes and perinatal outcomes in young polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients. The study found that BMI and IR levels are independent risk factors for early pregnancy loss in young PCOS patients during the first embryo transfer cycle.

Summary: The study demonstrates that canagliflozin is not inferior to metformin in improving insulin resistance in PCOS patients, with significant benefits in improving menstrual pattern, reducing body weight and total fat mass, and decreasing triglyceride levels.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a reproductive endocrine disease with no specific drug treatment. Quercetin (QUR), a flavonoid, has potential therapeutic effects for PCOS patients. However, the mechanisms of QUR in PCOS patients remain unclear.

Summary: GLP-1 receptor agonists are more effective for weight loss and insulin resistance improvement in overweight/obese women with PCOS compared to metformin. However, the combination therapy shows similar effects to GLP-1 receptor agonist alone. The incidence of gastrointestinal discomforts is similar across different treatment groups. Further research is needed to assess the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of GLP-1 receptor agonists in treating women with PCOS.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age. The etiologies of this syndrome are complex and involve prenatal factors, genetic variation, epigenetic mechanisms, unhealthy lifestyles, and environmental toxins. This review examines the molecular mechanisms underlying PCOS pathogenesis at the level of signaling pathways and discusses potential therapies including exosome therapy, gene therapy, and drugs based on traditional Chinese medicine and natural compounds.

Summary: PCOS is a common disorder in women of reproductive age, affecting their physiology and metabolism, and often leading to metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance; Berberine can intervene in the development of PCOS in multiple ways, including alleviating insulin resistance, reducing androgen levels, regulating lipid metabolism, and reducing inflammation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the metabolic characteristics of overweight women with PCOS and analyze the possible mechanisms. The results showed that overweight PCOS patients were prone to hypertension, diabetes, low gonadal levels, and insulin resistance. Inflammatory cytokines CXCL12/SDF-1, Serpin E1/PAI-1, and MIF were predicted to play a crucial role in inducing insulin resistance in overweight PCOS through various biological functions and signal transductions.

Summary: Metformin combined with spironolactone therapy may be more effective in reducing BMI and serum androgen levels in PCOS patients. However, it does not have a significant effect on hirsutism score or gonadotropin hormone levels, and is not associated with an elevation in side-effects. When the treatment course is greater than 6 months, combination therapy can effectively reduce FBG and improve insulin resistance.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of different chronotype categories in women with PCOS and their impact on hormonal and metabolic aspects. The findings showed a higher prevalence of evening chronotype in women with PCOS, which was associated with worse hormonal and metabolic profiles.
