Summary: Ovarian reserve is crucial for female reproductive potential. Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) leads to reduced number and quality of oocytes, and even with IVF-ET, the pregnancy and live birth rates are low. Metabolic analysis of follicular fluid revealed unique metabolic characteristics in DOR patients, providing insights into the pathogenesis and prediction of ovarian reserve function.

Summary: The study found that the widespread use of phthalates (PAEs) has raised concerns due to their impact on endocrine disruption and reproductive toxicity, and the steroid metabolome plays a key role in follicular development. However, the mechanism by which PAE exposure affects ovarian reserve through the steroid metabolome is still unclear.

Summary: This study investigated the metabolomics of follicular fluid in patients with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and normal ovarian response (NOR). The results revealed differences in the choline pathway in DOR and NOR groups, and differences in the purine metabolism pathway in PCOS and NOR groups. Metabolic alterations in PCOS and DOR follicular fluid were also identified, providing novel approaches for diagnosis and therapy.

Summary: This study evaluated the levels of oxidative stress and inflammation in follicular fluid (FF) of patients with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) and found that DOR patients had increased oxidative stress and inflammatory levels in their FF. Furthermore, abnormal levels of IL-18 and TNF-alpha in FF may influence follicular development in DOR patients. The oxidative stress marker GSSG in the normal ovarian reserve group was found to be a negative predictor for embryo quality.

Summary: Ovarian reserve and follicular fluid cytokines play a crucial role in determining the reproductive potential of women seeking IVF. The differentially expressed cytokines in the follicular fluid of women with DOR are primarily involved in follicular maturation and ovulation, potentially influencing treatment outcomes.

Summary: Metabolomic analysis of follicular fluid revealed that disorders in oxylipins metabolism were closely related to ovarian reserve function. Among these oxylipins metabolites, significant changes in arachidonic acid metabolism may be associated with oocyte development, resulting in decreased fertility in DOR patients.

Summary: Our study identified a specific expression profile of follicular fluid-derived exosomal miRNAs in patients with DOR, which may be correlated with ovarian dysfunction and follicle formation. The findings provide insights into the molecular processes involved in the pathogenesis of DOR and other ovarian diseases.

Summary: Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are widely spread pollutants that have raised concerns about their impacts on reproductive health. Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) is a disorder of ovarian function, and the association between EDCs and DOR has been inconsistent. In this study, we found that the likelihood of DOR significantly increased with rising levels of a mixture of 21 EDCs, and specific chemicals within the mixture were driving this association. These findings emphasize the importance of considering the effects of EDC mixtures on female reproductive health.

Summary: This study used a systems pharmacology approach to elucidate the potential therapeutic mechanism of melatonin on diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). It identified 26 potential therapeutic targets, 17 significant pathways, and 4 functional modules. Melatonin may improve ovarian reserve through anti-aging, anti-apoptosis, endocrine, and immune system regulation effects.

Summary: Recombinant klotho administered before cisplatin may partially protect ovarian tissue from cisplatin-induced damage, especially in preserving follicles to some extent. The antioxidant mechanism of action of klotho may not be the primary protective mechanism in cisplatin-induced ovarian injury.
