Summary: By studying the changes in δC-13(cellulose) and other geochemical proxies in plant residues from East Taihu Lake in China, it was revealed that the lake's environment has undergone three distinct periods. The results showed that human activities were the main cause of the environmental changes, and interventions are needed to reduce nutrient inputs and enhance ecosystem resilience.

Summary: We report the search for electron antineutrinos from astrophysical sources using the KamLAND detector. Although some candidate events were observed, no significant excess over the background model was found. Upper flux limits and limits on the annihilation rates for light dark matter pairs were determined. The study also improves the upper probability limit of B-8 solar neutrinos converting into electron antineutrinos.

Summary: We report the results of a search for neutrinos during solar flares using KamLAND data. The large exposure allowed us to explore previously unexplored parameter space for solar flare neutrinos. The study found no statistical excess of neutrinos and established upper limits for electron antineutrinos and electron neutrinos.

Summary: In order to reliably sense the analyte concentration reported by electrochemical sensors, we propose to use low-cost sensors and borrow concepts from communication theory and computer science. By measuring the same quantity with multiple sensors and aggregating their outputs based on credibility, we can estimate the true signal and correct any systematic drifts during operation. Our approach can achieve high-precision sensing with low-cost sensors at reduced transmission cost by restricting wireless transmission to high-credible sensors.

Summary: This study proposes a physics-based, data-driven light-source-mean model for reflectance estimation, achieving improved accuracy by utilizing multi-modal sensing information and shape information obtained by depth cameras. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms existing methods, reducing the error by 96.8% on average. The improved reflectance estimation method is further validated through a multi-modal classification application.

Summary: The MoEDAL trapping detector is made up of approximately 800 kg of aluminum volumes and was exposed to proton-proton collisions during run 2 of the LHCb program. Evidence for particles with electric and magnetic charge in the trapping detector was sought using a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer. By excluding dyons and monopoles within certain charge and mass ranges, the study provides important insights into the characteristics of these particles.

Summary: The nEXO experiment proposes the use of light originating in the skin LXe region to improve background discrimination by 5%. This improvement comes from removing a fraction of gamma-ray background and efficiently rejecting background from Rn-222 dissolved in the skin LXe by tagging the decay in the Bi-214-Po-214 chain in the skin LXe.

Summary: This study presents a detailed optical simulation of the DARWIN detector using the Chroma framework, a GPU-based photon tracking platform. By simulating variations of the conventional detector design, the framework's efficiency and light collection time were evaluated. The results demonstrate that this approach provides a faster and more detailed alternative to traditional Geant4 optical simulations, making it an attractive tool for guiding the development of liquid xenon observatories.
