Summary: This study investigated the experiences and preferences of young adult research participants regarding the disclosure of MRI incidental findings (IFs) in brain imaging research. The study found that participants were primarily impacted by the uncertainty in the period immediately following IF disclosure, with no health benefits and some temporary and limited negative impact. The study suggests the importance of carefully considering IF disclosure in a population of young healthy participants and emphasizes the need for systematic, large-scale follow-up studies to monitor the risks and benefits of IF disclosure.

Summary: Disclosing Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers to research participants is an increasingly common practice. This study highlights the importance of participant education, dedicated time for the disclosure visit, and tools to facilitate the disclosure process. To effectively train and support clinicians in disclosing AD biomarker results, providing information, shadowing visits, debriefing sessions, and creating a frequently asked questions document are essential. Rating: 9/10

Summary: Using an event-study approach, this study examines the stock market reaction to the enactment of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Disclosure Simplification Act of 2021 by the US House of Representatives. The Act requires standardized ESG metric disclosure among American public companies. The findings show a significantly negative reaction of -1.1% for all firms, which takes five days to recover. Carbon-intensive firms and industries are more susceptible to the negative market reaction, while firms with higher ESG scores experience a mitigated negative reaction.

Summary: We find that a new compensation disclosure item reveals unique information on future firm performance. Firms with the highest expected grant payout outperform in various performance metrics, while those with the lowest payout underperform. This information is not captured by other channels, and investors underreact to it. A portfolio strategy based on this information generates significantly positive abnormal returns.

Summary: This paper analyzes ETF secondary markets from a financial stability perspective using unique regulatory proprietary data. The results show that although ETF secondary markets are somewhat concentrated, a subset of Authorised Participants actively participate in both primary and secondary markets, acting as a buffer between them. Only about a third of the net selling pressure in the secondary market is reflected in redemptions in the primary market, and this relationship holds even during periods of mild market stress. However, the high yield fixed income segment may be more vulnerable during periods of stress.

Summary: This study uses machine learning to predict the financial distress of Chinese listed companies. It finds that the value of textual disclosure diminishes when there is detailed financial data available. Detailed financial data itself is able to accurately predict financial distress, and combining it with predictors from textual disclosure does not improve prediction performance. The model that combines predictors gives more importance to financial-data-based predictors than textual-data-based ones. This study provides evidence on the value of textual disclosure and detailed financial data in financial distress prediction.

Summary: This research proposes and validates a scale to evaluate the Financial Literacy (FL) level of 314 participants (15-50 years old) after attending a Financial Education Program (FEP) in Ecuador. The final 18-item FL scale, consisting of Financial Attitude, Financial Knowledge, and Financial Behavior dimensions, proves to be reliable and robust. The average FL score is 76 out of 100 points, with the youngest participants scoring the lowest and financial institution employees scoring the highest. This study addresses the need for an accurate FL scale to measure the efforts of financial institutions in spreading financial education.

Summary: Carbon disclosure research has gained attention due to climate change and its impact on the global market. However, understanding of the role of carbon disclosure in corporate economic activities is still limited. Through analyzing 168 studies, the results show an increasing number of research, with variations in carbon disclosure practices among different firms, sectors, and countries. The existing literature mainly focuses on demographic characteristics and neglects attributes of governance, auditing, and ownership. Moreover, there is no academic consensus on determinants of carbon reporting, and the quality of reporting is not necessarily related to the amount of disclosed information.
