Summary: From November 30 to December 02, 2022, the fourteenth edition of the IEEE Latin-American Conference on Communications (LATINCOM) was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This marked the return to in-presence conferences after the COVID-19 outbreak. LATINCOM, held annually, attracted participants and submissions from around the world. The 2022 program included four keynote speeches, four tutorials, two workshops, and 16 technical sessions over three intensive days.

Summary: Email marketing is widely used in business communications and is one of the most popular applications among consumers. This study evaluates the impact of six determinants of persuasion on the open rate of hotel industry newsletters. Real experiments were conducted using a luxury hotel and its customer database, with A/B tests for each determinant. The results contradicted the findings of the literature review, showing that the determinants did not increase the open rate of newsletters.
