Summary: The MIB-1 index is an important risk factor for progression-free survival in pituitary adenoma. A preoperative method for estimating the MIB-1 index has not been evaluated. The FATE score using preoperative IGF-1, age, ACTH, and plasma fibrinogen level enables the estimation of the MIB-1 index and can be used to assess the risk of an elevated MIB-1 index.

Summary: This study analyzed 375 patients with residual nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs) who were treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and compared the outcomes between early treatment and treatment at progression. The results showed that there was no significant difference in tumor control and preservation of hormonal/visual function between SRS at residual NFPA progression and adjuvant SRS. Deferring radiosurgical management to the time of radiological progression could prolong the onset of radiosurgically induced pituitary dysfunction.

Summary: This article explores fundamental and conceptual issues in the application of the 2D ROC curve for hyperspectral anomaly detection, providing solutions and insights. By deriving a mathematical theory and conducting comprehensive analysis, it reveals the principles of plotting the 2D ROC curve and evaluating background suppression. The article also highlights that many detectors claiming good performance in AD actually perform poorly in BS.

Summary: A new semiparametric model of the ROC curve is proposed, which is based on the resilience family or proportional reversed hazard family. The resulting ROC curve and its summary indices have simple analytic forms. The estimation methodologies of the resilience family and a simulation study to assess the performance of the estimators are discussed.

Summary: This study aimed to report the characteristic of tumor regrowth after gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) and outcomes of repeat GKRS in nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs). The study found that parasellar invasion and tumor margin dose (<12 Gy) were independent risk factors for tumor regrowth after GKRS. Repeat GKRS might be effective on tumor control for selected patients.

Summary: This study explored DNA methylation patterns associated with tumor progression in patients with nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs). The results showed that some methylation sites were associated with tumor progression and could potentially serve as biomarkers for early identification of tumor progression.

Summary: This study developed and validated a preoperative index-based nomogram to assess the risk of hypokalemia after surgical treatment of pituitary adenomas. The nomogram can also help identify high-risk patients who require close monitoring of serum potassium levels.

Summary: circDDX17 is downregulated in PA tissues and is associated with invasion, tumor size, and progression-free survival. Overexpression of circDDX17 significantly inhibits cell migration and invasion through miR-1279. CADM2 is a direct target of miR-1279 and silencing CADM2 reverses the tumor-suppressing effects of circDDX17. Our study demonstrates that circDDX17 upregulates CADM2 expression by sponging miR-1279, suppressing the invasive behaviors of PA.

Summary: This study used ROC analysis to evaluate the predictive value of pain biomarkers in livestock. It found that plasma cortisol, hair cortisol, and IRT had higher AUC values, while salivary cortisol, MNT, substance P, kinematic gait analysis, and a visual analog scale for pain had lower AUC values.

Summary: This study found that EIF1A is upregulated in human pituitary adenoma cells and depletion of EIF1A can severely limit cell proliferation, weaken cell migration capacity, and increase apoptosis of tumor cells. The study demonstrates that EIF1A plays a prominent role in facilitating tumor cell proliferation and migration.

Summary: The study revealed that SNHG7 is up-regulated in pituitary adenoma, and it plays a role in regulating cell growth, apoptosis, migration, and invasion through negative regulation of miR-449a. Silencing SNHG7 delays xenograft tumor progression and is a key oncogenic factor in pituitary adenoma.

Summary: This study found that ADAM22 is overexpressed in pituitary adenoma (PA) and promotes its growth and invasion through activating the ITGB1 signaling pathway. It also revealed that PKA may regulate ADAM22 levels through phosphorylation and delaying degradation. ITGB1 may be a potential therapeutic target for PA.

Summary: This study identified that circNFIX regulates cell invasion, migration, and proliferation in pituitary adenomas by sponging miR-34a-5p through CCNB1. The expression of circNFIX and CCNB1 was upregulated in pituitary adenoma tissues, while miR-34a-5p expression was downregulated. Silencing of circNFIX or overexpression of miR-34a-5p inhibited cell invasion, migration, and proliferation, indicating the potential of circNFIX as a therapeutic target for pituitary adenomas.

Summary: This study investigated a preoperative scoring sheet for estimating the MIB-1 index in patients with spinal meningioma. Multivariable analysis revealed significant associations between the baseline Modified McCormick Scale, age, calcification, and an increased MIB-1 index. A four-point scoring sheet (MAC-Spinal Meningioma) was developed to predict the increased MIB-1 index. This scoring sheet can be used for preoperative patient-surgeon consultation, surgical decision-making, and individualized follow-up or watch-and-wait strategies.
