Summary: The novel TWIP/TRIP titanium alloys exhibit unprecedented mechanical properties controlled by {332} <113> twinning and stress-induced martensitic transformation, whose atomic-scale mechanism is still unclear. Through ab initio calculations and experiments, the authors show that {332} <113> twinning can be described as a polymorphic solid-state transformation that produces twinned or martensitic structures, with a unified transformation path influenced by beta phase stability.

Summary: This study reveals the superior electrical properties of phosphorus-doped (113) diamond homoepilayer, showing higher electron mobility compared to (100) and (111) homoepilayers under similar phosphorus content conditions. The (113) diamond orientation demonstrates attractive characteristics for n-type doping.

Summary: Urban population is facing issues such as rising transport costs, worsening air quality, longer commuting time, and traffic congestion. This study analyzes news contents about traffic jam in 12 metropolitan cities across Asia, Oceania, Europe, and North America, and finds that traffic congestion is no longer seen as only an economic issue, but also as an environmental concern. Different cities prioritize different congestion-mitigation measures, with promoting public and active transport being the most popular one.

Summary: The epitaxial growth of high-index Fe films on MgO(113) substrates with a large lattice constant mismatch is achieved using DC magnetron sputtering. XRD analysis confirms an Fe(103) out-of-plane orientation and reveals a parallel alignment between the Fe[010] direction and the MgO[11 over bar 0] direction within the film plane. These findings provide valuable insights for the advancement of research in the growth of high-index epitaxial films on substrates with large lattice constant mismatch.

Summary: Factors associated with the frequency and contents of antenatal care in remote rural China were assessed, with residence province and individual-level factors being examined. The results showed that the province of residence had a greater impact on ANC frequency and contents than individual characteristics. Women in the poorest provinces with high proportions of ethnic minorities were particularly underserved.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the impact of waist circumference on left-ventricular (LV) structural and functional alterations in hypertensive males and females. Results showed that waist circumference had a more pronounced effect on LV alterations in female hypertensive patients compared to males, suggesting routine measurement of waist circumference as an additional predictor of cardiac phenotype in women.

Summary: This study focuses on the large-scale application of a Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy (Fe-SMA) for strengthening a historic roadway bridge in Czech Republic. The Fe-SMA's shape memory effect is utilized to enhance the yield and fatigue capacity of the bridge girders through prestressed strengthening. The test results demonstrate that the Fe-SMA strips generate compressive stress in the lower flange of the bridge girder, significantly improving its performance.
