Summary: Neurons in the medial entorhinal cortex can flexibly alter their firing properties to support navigation and memory. This study shows that the entorhinal circuit can rapidly and reversibly transition between different spatial maps even in the absence of discrete contexts, by translating along a single dimension in the population-level activity space.

Summary: In this article, a joint EEG feature transfer and semi-supervised cross-subject emotion recognition model is proposed to enhance emotion recognition performance by optimizing the shared subspace projection matrix and target label. The spatial-frequency activation patterns of critical EEG frequency bands and brain regions in cross-subject emotion expression are quantitatively identified by analyzing the learned shared subspace.

Summary: This comment is a response to Almeida, Esposito, and van Zeben's (2022) critical assessment of the two-year project commissioned by the European Commission in 2018, which analyzed barriers to entry in electricity and gas retail markets. Our response addresses the authors' methodological and practical criticisms and aims to clarify conceptual and methodological questions. We hope that our response encourages further academic debate on the appropriate use of indices in comparing different national contexts and markets.

Summary: This paper investigates the problem of mean-variance portfolio selection with proportional transaction costs and no-shorting constraint. The study derives a semi-closed form solution of the optimal dynamic investment policy using dynamic programming, duality theory, and a comparison approach. The properties of the optimal policy are illustrated numerically, and it is found that the efficient frontier is distorted due to transaction costs.

Summary: This study addresses the scheduling problem of deadlock-prone flexible manufacturing systems subject to no-wait constraints for the first time, and develops a new scheduling algorithm based on the place-timed Petri net (PN) model and heuristic search. The problem is solved through timetabling and sequencing, using a controlled PN model for timetabling and a hybrid heuristic search approach for sequencing.

Summary: The study found that FIB-4 score is associated with mortality in COVID-19 hospitalized patients, with each unit increase in FIB-4 score linked to higher risk of death. FIB-4 score peaked and then normalized in the survivor group but failed to do so in the deceased group. Furthermore, FIB-4 was positively correlated with SARS-CoV-2 viral load and monocyte-associated cytokines, particularly interleukin-6 and interferon gamma-induced protein 10.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the association between sleep quality, frailty, and dietary inflammation. The results showed that both pro-inflammatory diet and poor sleep quality were risk factors for frailty. In the population with poor sleep quality, a pro-inflammatory diet was associated with increased risk of frailty.
